King Shock Spring "Exploded", Anyone Else???

I've jumped several doubles and triples in mine, no issues.

Very well could have been. LOL I could/should have worded my post better. Just trying to gain some knowledge basically. Also, being from California, I have never seen a spring fracture like that.

Sorry to disappoint, I guess its more common than I thought! The shock body is pretty badly gouged and dented like the other photos folks have posted, probably could just replace the springs and move on with it but I've ordered the Bilsteins so thats that for me for a little while, hopefully I can get some more miles out of those by following the recommended service intervals.

If anyone wants my clapped out kings DM me, I won't do any repairs on them but I will ship them and don't want them sitting around my shop.

Dang man. You better get ready to sell the bilsteins too. They be breaking coil springs left and right.

It's the conditions you put the coilovers through. Not Kings fault. It's not common, except in rusty environments.

Cold doesn't cause rust, it's road salt and other deicers like magnesium chloride. In places like upstate NY, typically vehicles don't last more than 10 years without rustproofing. Imagine 2014 Tacomas being sent to the crusher en masse.

You are talking to me like I’m a child. By “wet cold state” I meant a state with moister and road salt.

 

^Road salt doesn't work below a certain temperature. You don't get nearly as much road in salt in MN as upstate NY, New England, southern Ontario, etc. TW members in Alaska see even less road salt.

 

Are we seriously having a dick measuring competition about who has more road salt in their state? I hope this all in jest.
