After having my WR450 for... good lord 10 yrs now, I have ridden quite a few other bikes from friends. Not a chance id ever give up the low end 450 grunt, now keep in mind the WR450 tuning / power delivery is a bit different than the essentially full race 450s mentioned above.

That stated, if i was doing gnarly single track woods riding ALL the time (and wasnt bound by the bullshit of California Air Resources Board), hands down 200-300cc 2 stroke. (NGL i have been toying with the idea of a 2t trials bike)

just a couple of things tbh
Ya I was thinking personally a 450 would.be to much especially around here with how our trails are setup.
The wr450 weight is still better then my drz400 lol so I have looked at the wr.

I've never noticed the turning heavy tbh but it's been years since I've been on a 2 stroke. I wouldn't mind a 125x from Yamaha or even a smaller KTM 2 stroke but havent found many just yet but also not looking super hard lol.
So I think it also has to do with the terrain you are riding in that changes your opinion of how much CC is to much since all the buddies I know out here anything at 450 level unless racing is just not really needed and even racing they feel a bit much so I think it just depends.

Wr450s out here in Missouri are not super common I've seen a few but normally pretty pricey tbh

WR is definitely more tame than a yz.

Idk ive just found that i dont need all the power and i actually ride better/more aggressive on a smaller bike.

i had a gg trials bike. Ended up selling it to free up some cash though
125/150s take a lot of work to ride. They can be fun but to properly ride one you have to ride it aggressive because of the lack of torque.

My opinion find a 250 four stroke or 2 stroke for offroad. The "smaller" bike will make you focus more on technique but still be plenty for anything

Will do I've mainly saw KTM and husky with the 350 but will keep an eye out for anything around that CC size

Wouldn't that claim be through your auto insurance instead of your motorcycle. You should have ran it through that as a hit and run/parking lot damage/uninsured anyway, and never said a word to anyone what actually happened

My assumption was since the bike did the damage; the bike's insurance should pay. No different than if it fell over in a parking lot and hit someone's vehicle.

The fact I own the truck it hit shouldn't matter. The statement about pocketing money was also dumb. I could easily pocket money from the State Farm payout. I'm fine with them sending the check(minus my deductible) to the body shop.

State Farm has already ok'd it. I just think Progressive should pay b/c the vehicle that caused the damage is covered by them.

No, you can't file a claim against yourself. Your trucks uninsured coverage would cover that. I know it seems stupid, the bike caused the damage it should be the policy to pay right? Nope. Insurance companies don't typically pay direct to shop, it's a scam people have abused, hence why it's a retarded system

I get that people scam the system. It's bullshit that I pay for coverage and can't use it when needed. If it's an issue, start paying shops directly(which I'm ok with). I could easily pocket the money from State Farm since they have no problem covering it. It shouldn't be State Farm's responsibility to cover a truck that was hit by a vehicle that is insured by a different company.

All good, I’m hoping to go once more might book another day in Sep/early Oct. I hear you on the Buell being harder to fix. I say take the red FJR since that one has suspension

Yeah terrain definitely plays a role. Ill go from wide open desert at low elevation to single track at 10k+ft above sealevel. The WR450 does it all great (but not any one thing perfect). Still love the bike. Like stated if i was essentially ONLY riding hard n more technical id be on a TRAIL 2 stroke bike... note I say trail the way power comes on on a trail 2 stroke vs an mx one is WIDLY different.

I rode a CRF250X for a long time and it was a great bike but the extra power when needed is nice of the WR450, weight was similarish.

Ya it's interesting the difference between a Mx and trail version bike. There is a 19 yz250fx locally buuuut it has some issues... Plastics are missing and the case cover has been JB welded on but does coke with a new one... I feel that would be a new can of worms to mess with and most likely have broken bolts on..

The KTM is nice but 4900 bucks but it is modded

Definitely no desert around here. Find some wider two track but that's about it.

Some of this fun stuff and then trees. Havent taken any video where ive been spending my time lately

4900 is pretty cheap. How many hours?

I was gonna say for a newer KTM 350 trail bike that's cheap if hours aren't crazy

Have you considered a KTM 200 XCW? A little older and harder to find but has a nice little niche spot.

I'm currently doing the rear suspension linkage service on my FJR. What a job! Also refreshing the forks, changing the coolant, brake & clutch fluids, repacking the steering stem bearings, changing the spark plugs, checking the synch on the throttle bodies, and installing a Battery Tender pigtail while I'm at it.

She's gonna be like a brand new bike. Well, a 2008 FJR with only 23,000 miles on her. For those that are "in the know", FJRs can go well past the 150,000-200,000 mile mark with ease. @BkerChuck knows what I'm talking about!

For the reason they are harder to find I wouldn't suggest them to start with. Parts are definitely getting more scarce on the 200s.

Id look at a beta 200 since it's still supported and offered. Been wanting to ride one but the Beta demo day got canceled for us.
