    Option 1: Price/Milage for the year - $30k
    Details: 2017 TRD Off-Road w/ Tow Package
Mileage - 37k miles, one owner
Summary- Clean Carfax - One Owner, CLEAN HISTORY REPORT, ONE OWNER, 120V/400W Deck Mounted AC Power, Engine Immobilizer, LED Daytime Running Lights, ORP Black Overfenders, Smart Key w/Push Button Start, TRD Off Road Package, TRD-Tuned Off-Road Suspension, Wide Angle Front Fog Lamps.
Notes: Pretty basic, nothing too fancy but a good deal

    Option 2: Fully loaded/ultra low miles (7k) $44k
Details:2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road Double Cab Premium 4x4

Fully loaded with ALL factory options plus over $6,000 worth of OEM upgrades! Only 7k Miles! One Owner, Low Mileage, Clean CARFAX, Clean Title, Garage kept, Non-smoker, Immaculate Condition.
Still under factory bumper-to-bumper warranty. Paint is ceramic coated. You will not find a cleaner, more well-kept vehicle. Freshly serviced, new oil & filter, tire rotation. All maintenance has been performed per Toyota recommended schedule. Includes two keys, all original documents, service records, and factory window sticker.

Notes: The guy bought the truck as a 3rd vehicle and decided to get a full size, I think this is a good deal for the loaded options on it but still at the top of my budget.

My question, I know the loaded one will be nice with all the upgrades but will my driving experience really be that different?

Both of these TR ORs will feel identical when driving. They are basically the same vehicle inside and out

Thanks for your response. I think being the exact same inside and out may be a bit of a stretch considering tire difference, one has a lift, one is a double cab etc...

$14k is a lot of money.
Even if the timing cover leaked, you wouldn't spend $14k on the repair.
And that's about the biggest repair you'd likely see.

Unless you think the features below are worth $14K?
I don't think they are myself.

TRD Premium Off-Road Package (Double Cab A/T): includes leather-trimmed seats with heated front seats, auto headlights, moonroof, Premium JBL®31 Audio, Dynamic Navigation42 with 3-year trial,43 Remote Connect with 1-year trial,21 Destination Assist with 1-year trial,23 and Service Connect with 10-year trial20

You left out the wheel/lift/cab configuration in your description of the vehicles.

That said, they will drive nearly the same.

Most doodads and options in the interior do not change the driving experience.
They are both TRD ORs and will behave pretty much identically.

Get the one that doesn't have a leaking engine. Or whichever one is in better condition inside and out. Its an apples vs apples choice. Pick whatever flavor you want

I hate push button start cause car theft is rampant where I'm at but you may not mind the security flaw it represents.

Are they both short beds? I like the extra foot of length in the LB.

If I were you, I would probably shy away from the white truck because of the reputation they have of paint flaking off.

Depends on budget. If you are gunna pay 44K you might as well get a brand new 4th gen. I'm not a fan of black personally, especially older ones. White has some paint issues, but haven't had any on mine. That 22 already has a nice grill, nice LED headlights. The 17 looks dated with the grill and old headlights. I'd figure out how much you want to spend and then look at trucks around that price point.

See if you can work them on the price of the 22. You can probably do 40k otd or maybe a little better.

The 4th gens can be found for mid to upper 40k.

Have you input both vins into the toyota owners app? That will give you more buying power possibly. It will display all service done at the toyota dealership.

Add the truck to your garage and look up maintenance of the trucks

I’d go for the ‘17 personally. Save the extra money in case it needs any repairs in the next few years and use some of the leftover to replace the grill.

both trucks you posted are double cabs. only real difference between them besides the added options and accessories are.

    power drivers seat
    android auto/apple car play radio
grill (which is changed on the 22)
tail lights (which are better on the 17)
22 lost the 2nd bed storage compartment
22 has the optioned led headlights
besides some reliability updates that was pretty much it i think.

if you plan on modifying truck id probably go with the 17. driving as is go 22.

Oh okay, I never thought about being able to replace the grill. Where is the best place to do that? Is it simple to do on your own?

Super simple to do on your own. Most people go with the TRD Pro-style grill, like this: https://www.kokautoparts.com/products/2016-2022-tacoma-trd-pro-grille

You can go on Google and search “2017 Tacoma Grill” and you’ll be overwhelmed with options. You can also get an aftermarket head unit for the 2017 for $1000 or less that will give you Apple Car Play compatibility.

If you don’t need 4WD and want something you can modify, go for the 2017. If you do need 4WD, get the 22.

Where are you located, btw? Beaman is my local dealership here in Nashville.

If I did a lift and same tires on the 17 as the 22, would that the same if I did that? or is the 17 not meant to be lifted like the 22 is?

Find and buy a new 2023 SR5. Everything you need and nothing you don't.
If you want to 'upgrade' it towards all the TRD offerings you can do that yourself.

Plus: you get a real key with the SR5

You shouldn’t have any issues lifting and replacing the wheels on the 17. The only major differences with the 22 are improved technology and 4WD.
