oh the tractor is probably not a lemon.... They are fine little tractors.

everyone who has a BX just the tendency to treat them like a bigger heavier stronger machine & they over do them or twist them up. They get lots of abuse that they just werent designed for.

a B7100 or 7200 was designed to be WORKED & they are super solid low cost tractors.
Kubota just never made a good replacement for them until the 2501 & 2601 or biggers.

even then my favorite Kubota is still a B3200 as the best all around for the money/work.

This is coming from a guy who is on a 40hp tractor..... Id still buy a B3200 today if the price was right.

    I agree B7100 is a work horse for a 16 HP machine.

I've been shopping for a new mower for a little bit and have been going back and fourth on a few things. I know I wanted a lawn tractor and not a zero turn. I would prefer a dealer tractor but my budget wasn't gonna allow that. Well I've been eye balling the john deere s160 and s180 at home depot. Today my local home depot had their last s160 on sale for $2000 (regularly $3,200) I know it's not the best thing in the world but I needed a lawnmower under my budget. Plus with my home depot card I have interest free financing for 24 months. I was able to buy 40 4x4 fence post and my lawnmower for cheaper than the lawnmower was gonna cost. I'm stoked.

Got the tubes in today, and dropped everything off at the tractor guy this afternoon a whopping 4 miles away. For the difference in tires

I'm not real smart about these old tractors and models but ol Joe is good at mechanicing on them and his son Randy paints them after his dad gets em running and working perfectly.

i really like those small 4x4 kubotas. with my property being smallish, tight trails, and hills it would be just fine. i would be one of those guys to push limits though.

I'm looking at a 10 year old B2601 to purchase Sat Morning, And will have a B7200 to sell if it works out. Or... I just might have four tractors again ;-)

First time I’ve mowed the entire yard with this one in close to a year.

    upload_2024-8-1_18-44-32.jpg

Was running great last Friday after swapping coils and rebuilding carb. Started running super rich and bogging down.

The Amazon accelerator pump came apart. The metal piece is supposed to sandwich the diaphragm.

I’m gonna see if Amazon wants both pieces back for a refund.

I took an old one out of a spare carb and it ran good enough to mow until I can buy a new one.

    Wrap almost forgot to share....

Got my quick changer for the Cat 302.7d CR & installed it today. MAN!!!! What a good move!

Its not hydro powered it is lever op'd. BUT it only took 30 seconds to walk out there trip the lever & hop back in the seat. Drop of the bucket, reach over & grab another! Hell yes!

Now I'm ready to order that brush cutter for the Cat! Then with just a little practice around here will be ready to take on some small cash in hand jobs. :)

I forgot about this thread! I bought a Massey Ferguson MF35 with a box blade a couple weeks ago. $2,500. Then i picked up almost new bush hog $1,200 for our property in North Florida. I LOVE that old tractor. Built in 1962...same year as me! :)
I am totally in on this tractor. What a mechanical marvel! So easy to work on. Changed the oil, greased her up and away we went.

That kind of coincidence us just nuts!

I'm just amazed that something that simple to would cause such issues.

I've had zero issues with the Chinese carbs, but I guess there is always a 1st.

With that said, I've installed non accelerator carbs on motors that previously had the accelerator pump.

My "opinion" is the accolorator pumped carbs help the engine start quicker. I can't tell any difference in power. This is just an unofficial observation.l

Maybe Kohler thought they could get away with a smaller CCA battery using carbs with the accelerator. I dunno.

Is it too soon to tell if the SAM unit was causing the initial issue?

My experience with OTT is like @VTCAL described that guy is way too much. They/he is too concerned about Bots and definitely made me feel unwelcome with all his questions and trying to correct me. It's a good place to collect information but posting is a hassle.

The SAM was definitely bad, it had been getting hot and cutting off, starting on one cylinder, etc. No problem with spark now with the one wire coils.

Hopefully this carb will act right and I can keep cutting with it.

Tires mounted and installed. He charged me $30.00 to mount, which I think was good since he cleaned up the rims and installed tubes when mounted. And he called me 2 hours early.

Got this jewel dropped off this morning. No spark. Cranks great but no fire.

Metering the unit out. Found i had 12 volts to the coil, but no spark after that.

Started looking at the coil. She looks a little swollen on the one side. I'm pretty sure this the issue.

If you zoom in, you can see the uneven gap in the seam.

@koditten I wasn’t satisfied with the way my mower ran, it was still running rich and wouldn’t idle, would cut off if idled down.

Had an idea today to block the accelerator pump and the hole on that bottom tube (I tapped it and put a set screw with sealant on it). I put a hose connecting the two on the carb.

    upload_2024-8-2_16-53-49.jpg

Just put it on, it is harder to start but it runs like a sewing machine now :yay:

For those that don’t know, I’ve been fighting this thing for a year.

Also, my fuel filter wouldn’t have much fuel in it. It was sucking it dry. Now it’s full. I’m so excited, it’s like I got a new mower :D
