I can’t remember if it was this or another article but it seems like all scenarios are being considered including: dropping 2 from a future crew flight, one for Crew -8 and one for Crew-9 return.

Butch and Suni are reported to have SpaceX flight suits available…

Isn’t Dragon designed for up to 7 with three additional seats below the typical 4?

 

Yup, the lower row exists but nasa wanted it as storage space instead.

Edit - apparently nasa wanted a different seat angle when dragon went from 7 to 4, so it'll likely just be 2+ empty chair.

I’m hearing there’s internal discussion at NASA whether or not to bring them back on it. And it’s not a given that they will. Ever since the merger Boeing has been screwing the pooch. Kinda sad for all the people with no say that get left holding the bag.
