Need Help: AAL Twisting inside spring pack

I need some assistance with an AAL I installed about 6 months ago. The AAL is a 1 1/2" lift from Wheelers OR. I installed it per the instructions, and ever since it looks like the AAL is trying to twist out of the spring pack. What brought it to my attention was a squeeking noise from the rear. I figured it was from the friction pads wearing out, but when I look at the rear springs the friction pads were fine and the AAL were sticking out of the spring pack at about a 10 degree angle. I was able to tap them back into alignment with a mallet and the squeeking stopped for about a week, but it started again yesterday and the AAL have started twisting out again. I tried using zip ties to hold the pack together, but they are cutting it.

Sorry for not posting any pictures, but I am at work. If you can imagine when the AAL are aligned with the spring pack they are perpendicular to the rear axle. They are trying to twist to become parallel with the rear axle.

Anybody else had this issue? Suggestions?

 

Are the AAL leafs not inside the retaining clip? I can't see how they'd move if you have the retaining clip on. Post up a picture.

 

Whack 'em back in line with a rubber mallet, check torque on your u-bolts, and buy some leaf brackets to hold 'em in line.

 

Mine do it too. I have the wheelers aal and extended ubolts on tsb leaves. You can kind of see it in this picture. The aal (the one above the overload leaf) is twisted about a 1/2" inward in back. Up front, the twist is limited by the leaf brackets with the break lines mounted to them. The squeaking comes from the side of the leaf rubbing against that bracket. It bugs the crap out of me. I too bang it back over with a mallet but within a week or so, it works its way back over.

 

Is that the 3 leaf pack? You like it?

 

Well then I'd love to know what the proper torque is. I think I have them torqued at about 75 ft-lbs.

 

Hmm, interesting. I was thinking of just going to dakars but cheap is good! I've been meaning to flip the bolts too. I just need to buy some round u bolts and make some top plates. Super easy and cheap job. Just not at the top of the "what to do during shop time" list.

 

Take a look at the aal install sticky under suspenions and lifts. That will show you what holds it in line

 

No it doesn't. That's exactly how mine are installed. The bracket up front with the brake line mounts is what holds it in line, somewhat, but its also what the leaf twists against and rubs to cause the squeak.

 

I could post some pics, but they would look just like BirdTRDs farther up the post. Is there anyone that makes the U bracket that I can bolt on somehow to keep them from moving? Otherwise I was going to try a hose clamp. The squeaking is driving me nuts.
