Went and test drove an IS500 today. Nice car but the brakes felt a bit soft and the transmission was a little laggy. I want something fast but I'm on the fence about what to get.

Kinda crazy that sticker price is about the same (or less?) as a new TRD Pro Tacoma

It is considered an F Sport Performance and not a true F model (like the previous IS F). Kinda between an F Sport and an F. Not the full F treatment. Did you try Sport S+ and/or "manual" mode to help with the shifting? But it is nice to have a 5.0L NA 472hp V8 in a small sedan that's also going to be reliable. I haven't even driven one yet. :rofl:They're usually sold before they show up.

Yea this one is not a true "F" model, just an F-sport. It's basically just an IS with that sweet V8. I did use the shifter in s-mode and paddle shifters for a minute and that did help with the lag a lot. When just normal driving and you stomp the gas to take off and there's like a full second delay before it downshifts, but at that point it's plenty fast. Maybe it's me getting too used to the Wilwood brakes and braided steel lines but the brakes did seem much softer than I was expecting. Oh and it's also still got a CD player for some reason, and still has that old track pad to control the infotainment. I really want to like the car but I'm just not sure.

The salesman said the one I drove just showed up today and they're typically sold before they come in. He also claimed that Greenville Lexus sells the same volume as Atlanta (265 last month), so I'll take what he says with a grain of salt lol.

Yeah it's still one of the holdovers with the older technology, along with the RC. But it works! Lexus has never been at the forefront of technology.

As you should. Because...yeah...no..... We can see what everyone else sells. Unless he's lumping used/CPO into that. REDACTED

Tomorrow I am going to attempt to solder pipes for the first time. I can’t do any worse than the previous people…

That is pretty bad. They did zero clean up. Must have been near quitting time.
