Replaced my chrome grill with a color matched OEM honeycomb grill and put some color matched 'bumpershellz' on the chrome rear bumper. Happy with the results. Going to make the front emblem black-chrome and get blank center caps and put black TRD decals on em. No more chrome.

It's a relatively new truck for me. My first cosmetic goal was to de-chrome. My approach was "if Toyota had done a TRD Pro in this year model, what would that've looked like?" I figured a leveled appearance via Bilstein 5100s, the color matched options from the TRD Sport, the locking rear diff from the TRD Off-Road (which is what my truck is), modest intake/exhaust upgrades, and some extra TRD flair inside and out is close to where Toyota would've landed for the '2009 TRD Pro'.

I'm still working on the exhaust aspect, thinking Borla PRO-XS 14in body 2.5in center in/out muffler with custom cat-back piping. Sounds like it would be quiet enough to seem like it could've been a factory option, but loud enough to know it's there. I've liked the examples I've heard. Mightve otherwise just gotten a TRD exhaust, but I think the Borla option will be more cost effective and sound better. Will definitely have a black exhaust tip because again, chrome sucks.

The color matched honeycomb grill is one of the best changes I made to my 2008.enl20240601_075101.jpg

just spent $3k on my 2005 V6 DC because my manual shifter was completely shredded and I had to get it replaced but I also had several problems that have piled up over the years as I have ignored since it hasn't been my daily driver in years (fuel sensor broken, replaced fuel pump as well since I was replacing sensor, 4WD wouldn't engage, front brake pads were worn down, AC/heater only blew on high 90% of the time and 10% of the time the lower settings might still work...

did all this because I want to possibly build a camper top (like a shell not a full blown wedge or anything) and need the truck to be roadworthy once again. man, I forgot how tight the shifting used to be, I'm going to be driving the hell out of the truck again! forgot how much i love the ride height compared to a sedan and it's funny how less frequent people cut me off in the truck vs when I'm in my Accord lol

okay details, on your grill that isn't ugly and I hate the chrome on my truck. its typical off-road guy white Tacoma with Black wheels, have thought even about finding the base model black bumper

I just put the black covers on mine to hide the rust that was coming from under the chrome. Don’t mind the chrome just not the rust.

Did you have to make that hole any bigger? There’s already a hole in it for that license plate light. Should be easy enough to cut it you need to though

IIRC you need to cut two small tabs off the trailer plug, this was also 3 years ago though

    Exactly, chrome was everywhere.
Here's a CJ5 that I built with 500HP 8K RPM motor. It destroyed Pismo Dunes and could smoke the boggers like a drag car. I raced it a few times at Fomoso Drag way. Blew people's mind and made my wife scream like a little girl.

No cheap $146 pair from partsgeek dot com. After 3 years the outer tint is starting to peel in small areas.
