been crazy busy in real life. Haven't had much time for TW, or even to ride my bike. But I came here to catch up and there are 700 messages to catch up on!?!?!? I can't! I just can't. so I only went back a page or 2 and lo and behold, you're talking italian bikes! Man, I miss everything...

Aprilia and Moto Guzzi are having their best sales year in history (same parent company - Piaggio). Worth noting.

    Mine included. Nice job!

Was on vacation to NE last week. Family wedding in VT. Family reunion in NH. Red Sox game in Boston. Was a good week. Parked next to this at a craft brewer in NH, had to snap a photo for @Calamity_taco isn't this the same fairing you're not crazy about?upload_2024-8-2_13-57-43.png

I've been shopping new helmets once again. What is everyone using and why do you like that helmet in particular. Side note for streetbike use

Funny enough I use to love icon but they fell off. When they first came out I only wore icon helmets. And they were tested and true face planting the pavement at 70mph when the front end of my cbr1000rr washed out front under me. But that's why I'm asking what everyone is using. Cuz I'm not of a fan of icon anymore.

Riding in an AGV K1S, price was right and ECE 22.06 rated. Bit noisy over 80 kph, but decent airflow and great field of vision.

I love my AGV K5S. Comfortable, ventilation is great, pretty aerodynamic. It can get a bit noisy though if that would be an issue for you.

I just got a new helmet last year, a Klim, but the 509 brand looks super awesome if you want built in features like Bluetooth

I wear a Scorpion EXO-R1 Air most of the time. Good ventilation, very comfortable, good field of view, and it has one of those Reebok air type pumps to snug it up once it's on your dome.

Current price on Cycle Gear is $430.

That was one of the helmets I was looking at. I had a scorpion helmet a couple years ago but the 1 I got had way too much wind noise could of been the model though.

I had a 2010 Hypermotard 1100 that I bought off the original owner with only 5000 miles back in 2015. The guy was meticulous and had all servicing done at the dealer with paperwork to prove it. I bought it thinking it would be great fun. While a beautiful bike I do not think the fit an finish is on par with higher end Japanese bikes. I owned it about three months and was out riding with a friend, we hit a nice rural straight away and both get on the bikes. I'm in second gear and just hit 60 when the bike just quits. Screen goes blank, all dark, motor off. I coast to a stop. After a couple on and off of the ignition switch the dash finally comes back on. I started it up and rode that thing straight to a local dealer and traded it in. I was not going to even entertain messing Ducati electronics. On to the next bike.

I have a Shoei RF-SR and it is comfortable and quiet, and at $400 isn't a terrible expense for a quality helmet.

I looked at the K5 as well, and based on the results I saw from last week, it holds up well in a crash vs the side of an SUV. I have heard they vent a little better than the Shoeis but are also a bit louder because of it.

I agree, I've seen several with major problems, mine is definitely no show bike, half the fasteners are corroded. The new bikes tho. Go into a Ducati dealer and just look around, they're on a different level.

Riding through Downtown LA during Covid was something else. Empty streets and the Harley exhaust echoing between all the tall buildings. Reminded me of the opening scene of I Am Legend with the Mustang in NYC. My daily commute at the time took me through there so I’d hop off the freeway just to have downtown all to myself.

from everyone I've spoken to and all i've researched, Shoei or Schuberth if you want it quiet. the AGVs are known to be a bit louder due to the ventilation, and lighter weight which I would assume translates to less sound insulation/reduction.
