I'm about to pull the trigger on this upgraded transfer case. I'm not quite sure about the wiring, but is it possible to trick the transfer case the same way as the "trick the transfer case wire mod" the same way on a 2013 Tacoma as it is the FJ?? Or is this just for the FJ only???
Also, please let me know if I need the FJ tube or just lock the ADD in and call it a day. Which way is better, tube or no tube and why??
Thanks millions in advance. The mechanical part is down; but wiring and u derstanding is a lil behind. Thanks again TW!!

What transfer case are you upgrading to exactly? There’s no need to trick a manual transfer case into doing anything so not sure what you’re asking

My apologies for the delay. Working on FJ swap, watched a youtube video, and it seems legit. Guy wired the sensors from the FJ case to on/off toggle switch; each one in series, minus the neutral. Would this work with a 2013 taco as well?? I'm also in cognito with the FJ ADD tube, or just free mod the original ADD switch to the locked position, and call it a day??? Trust I've read all 1800 pages of lets see your FJ swaps. I'm just a lil slower at electrical than others.. Or more intimidated??
Thanks so much for chiming in. Much appreciated.

I don’t see the need to wire the sensors in series, not sure what that circuit would accomplish? Ideally you’d tie them to the gauge cluster wires, the single wire is grounded on the sensor once the detent is pushed in. Wire like a pull up resistor circuit to have dash function with 4x4 and 4lo lights as oem.

as for the ADD if yours is able to switch into 4wd I’d leave it there and unplug the electrical connector. If it’s inoperable I’d swap out for a non ADD tube from an FJ 6 speed.

I'm beginning to get a lil less intimidated, the more I study. It looks like I won't be using FJ tube, as all this stuff just keeps getting harder and harder to source. Needless to say, more and more expensive. Those twin sticks weren't cheap, just to cut, bend, and weld. I'll be going for the pen slot area for my shifter location. Thus far, this transfer case stuff has been pretty intriguing. First ECGS gear swap, now this. Semi comparable, only the case requires electrical b.s. which isn't too involved, but a lil over my comfort skill. Great to be here, great people with bad ass rides, and great taste in trucks. Thanks TW.

Got a PO500 code after going out for a drive doing the ase swap. Did the glove box wires. Did the case wires, amd it feels like it's in 2-hi?? Is this normal??
Yet to do my ADD harness. 2-hi is rt lever up, left (closer to driver down? This right?? Thanks.

If the ADD isn’t operating, then it will feel like 2hi when in 4hi. If the ADD doesn’t engage then basically no torque goes to the front wheels.

Can’t speak to why the P0500 would be occurring though. That’s a speed sensor code.

Oh no, I'm in 2hi and it feels like 4hi.
    Thanks. No ADD just yet.
