    New watches, no. Some will have a “premium” at launch, but that fades as availability climbs. Legacy watches are like holding any other collectible, as long as there is interest (the watch market has cooled since pandemic). I have a Rolex I got from my father… it is worth more now, but the sentimental is more valuable.

    It might surprise y’all to know that the top item on the list, from a monetary perspective, is the ruby slippers. The Smithsonian estimates their pair is worth 3 to 5 million bucks. Theirs is known as “The Dancing Pair” and were equipped with felt on the soles to mask the fact that the “Yellow Brick Road” was actually just painted wood. There were 3 others. Two are owned by private collectors and are off-limits. The last, known as “The Traveling Pair” is in a museum in Judy Garland’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. They were stolen in 2005 and disappeared for awhile. Until the thief tried to extort the insurance company for their return. The FBI ran a successful sting operation and nabbed the culprit and returned them. There’s no place like home :rolleyes:
