2024 TRD OR with 255/75R17 pics anyone???

I have a 24 TRD OR 6’ bed Underground coming to me in late Aug, and my first thought is to get a different set of AT tires for all year use here in central BC.

I’m thinking 255/75R17 for size to have a slightly taller tire (32”) and a little narrower to hopefully have good snow handling, and without adding too much extra weight.

Current choices are these because of good winter reviews.
-Toyo Open Country AT3
-BFG AT KO 2

Does anyone use this tire size on their 2024 and have any pics? Thanks.

 

I had that size KO2’s on my 2nd gen - they were great!

I’m sticking with stock OR wheels but now I’m considering going up to 255/80R17 for the extra height.
I don’t need the 10ply rating but if I can keep the weight to no more than 50lbs/tire, then ok.

My options are:

-stick with stock size 265/70R17 but upgrade to more aggressive AT (6ply) and stay under 50lbs with BFG KO2 or General Grabber ATX at 31.7”.

-255/80R17 Toyo Open Country AT3 at approx 50lbs and 33”.

-275/70R17 Nokian Outpost NAT at 50.7lbs at 32” but a little beefier looking.

All these options should be a straight forward fit with no rubbing.

Have to find a balance between practical needs and uses, aesthetics, and loss of power and fuel economy.

Smart play is probably to stick with stock size but upgrade AT and then not have to mess around with getting a new spare.

The Nokian Outpost NAT have good reputation for winter conditions and have the deepest tread depth of the choices.

 

I'd go with the Nokian's. I had K02's in the past and they left a lot to be desired in wintery conditions.

Yes I do. 255 75 17 Nokian Outpost nAT.
They are awesome for a standard load AT tire. Approx 43lbs per tire avg 11L/100km with 6MT transmission.
I was planning to go with 33"s but fitting a full size spare 33" would have cut into ground clearance and would not fit onto the factory spare rim. 255 75 worked well without issue in both respects.

Thank you. That size looks good. I will either stick with stock size 265/70R17 and just get an upgraded AT tire, or go with 255/75R17.

This will be a daily driver for me and I think I’ve come to the realization that I don’t need to go to a 33” tire even if it’s only 255 wide. Thanks again.

 

I have the same truck if you build it on the US site and do the conversion with the added heated seats mud flaps rubber floor mats its 6k CDN more then what we pay up here

 

Same same. Daily driver plus snowy roads half the year swayed to the pizza cutter 255 75.
The 33s look so good on this truck that I wanted them bad but ultimately sided with logic over looks.
I thought about staying with the factory BFGs but they are made specifically for Toyota and they don't have the 3pms winter rating that the normal commercial BFG Trail TAs have. That rubbed me the wrong way.
Also to note the factory BFGs are 37lbs per tire so any decent AT is likely going to be quite a bit heavier. The Nokian at 43 was the sweet spot for me personally vs AT3/4w and KO3 pushing 55-60lbs per tire I worry the added unsprung weight would decrease performance, mpgs and put added strain on the Turbo four.
I might be over cautious, time will tell.

I didn’t realize the stock BFG Trail Terrains were a special build for Toyota. I assumed they were the standard build with the winter rating at 41-42 lbs.
I definitely don’t want those.

I’ll post up what I go with when I get the truck later this month.
