Just joined TW - Im very new to the Toyota the trucking experience, although my wife or family vehicle over the years has been a 4Runner, Sequoia and now a Rav Hybrid. As far as P/U truck go I have had nothing but Chevy vans ( going way back). In 1994 I purchased my 1st Silverado, then in 06 a 2500HD 6.6 Duramax, in 2019 I purchased a Silverado w/a 6.2. I love cu in. Then comes along a Tacoma and I stoked with the style, etc but the 4cyl has me very nervous but I ordered one anyway and its due in about Sept 1st.
A Solar Octane TRW Off Road with some black options
Cant wait to start adding stuff.

    Thanks,

Don't be nervous about the 4 cylinder. It has plenty of power and returns good economy. Welcome to TW!

Delta09 - Thanks for the reassurance but if given the option, I would have preferred a small V-6 turbo.

I take it u test drove it before purchase ? The 4cyl is a solid little engine….will see how the turbo holds out In the long run .

Yes, I did a test drive. It was on a smooth road and also on the interstate. but it had 15 miles on the odometer. my concern is after about 75000 miles on the clock.

Toyota has been making 4cyl turbos for decades. I wouldn't worry at all. Enjoy the truck when it gets here. And welcome to the club.

After owning a few GM trucks you didn't consider the Colorado with the 4cyl turbo?

Welcome and enjoy that Toyota Tacoma.

I can't see it going to production. Would Toyota put the 2.4 in the Tundra? GM puts the 2.7 Turbo Max in their fullsize 1/2 tons.

I'd love to see a tubo four Tundra at SEMA, that went on to see some real world testing. I don't want a 4cyl Tundra, but that's way more interesting than a fiberglass camper glued to the back of a 3rd gen.

Perfect opportunity to showcase Toyota's 2.4t truck engine, that's been engineered for commercial duty.

I picked up my Solar Octane Tacoma TRD yesterday, installed a Truxcedo Low Pro this afternoon. Tomorrow he bed mat should be here, however the Cali rock sliders will not be here for another 3-4 weeks.
still searching for a decent set of mud flaps which will work with the factory fender flares.

I’ve installed Weather Tech no drill mud flaps and they were great. Unfortunately WT hasn’t produced ant yet for the 2024 Tacoma. I’m looking for suggestions.

Welcome, interesting choice after owning the big boys... Owned a couple before the Gen 2 Tacoma came out. I still considered it the best midsize truck ever released ( I owned an '07) and Toyo just improved on the model. Don't think you'll be disappointed with the '24... Enjoy!!
