Cool, that's the install process I was imagining.

I got the carpet, window trim, B-pillar, and seat belt covers.

I haven't tried to test-fit anything yet. I'm curious about how the seat belts will fit. My 98 belts are fully mechanical, and if I remember correctly the trim piece is part of the seat belt assembly. The donor 2000 had pre-tensionsers and a trim piece that had to be removed to access the belt's mounting hardware.

I'll mock everything up but I don't think I want to cut into my cab. I'd be more inclined if the parts were the right colors, so I'll treat this as a trial to decide whether I want to keep looking for (and potentially pay $$$ for) Oak parts.

The parts I have are from a 99 and my truck is a 97 everything lined up minus the mounting holes. I originally used an oak set from a 2000. I got lucky finding the second set.

It makes a huge difference in the sound inside the cab.

So on my truck the outside clip holes were there. It was the 3 inside holes I had to drill.
As for the head liner I just put it over the vinyl fit like a glove!

So I’ve got a technical question for everyone. My son has an ‘02 and he got a steering wheel from pick n pull today from a 4th gen 4Runner. Once we took the steering wheel off the truck, we found the wiring harness is totally different on the two. Does anyone know what steering wheels are interchangeable with the ‘02?

I’d say most Toyota steering wheels from around that same timeframe will be interchangeable. May need an airbag adapter harness. This one is from a Supra.

Thanks for the reply! We’ll look to see if there is an airbag adapter harness. Do you happen to know where I could find the adapter?

You’ll have to check to see if you need it at all, but here it is.

4th gen 4runner is not the same as a 1st gen tacoma. Be more similar to a 2nd gen tacoma.

3rd gen 4runners are the ones that are like 1st gen tacomas. Could be the issue.

Yeah he’s trying to get a newer nicer looking steering wheel to put in his, but the write ups we’ve read seem confusing and some seem sketchy as hell. Some have spliced into the old wiring and made the airbag work. I don’t want anything like that done. Seems like it could be a malfunction just waiting to happen.

Most Toyota steering wheels will bolt on the difference is mostly with the clock springs and airbags, the wheel from the 4 runner just needs a clock spring with the additional wires I’m not sure which one it is but you can search the info on the forums

I bottomed out and smashed my skid plate a few weeks ago. Got the skid support straightened out this morning, now off to the junkyard to see if I can find a new skid plate.

Finally 'finished' the back seat cubbies and platform. still needs some tie downs, but the extra space underneath touches me in my happy storage place.

Templated it and had it cut out months ago but then made the mistake of painting it in Oil based Rustoleum, hello fumes. should have another month or two of windows down summer weather, hopefully its less of a fumigation hazard by the time rain gets here.
Its 16" front to back and 8" deep if you care about numbers;)
