I am on a road trip to Yellowstone with my new 2024 Tacoma SR5. I am pleased to report that my three full tank fill ups, I got 27.7 MPG, 26.2 MPG, and 25 MPG. My calculations and not the trucks estimations. The truck handles well and the road noise level was not bad. The only complaints I have is that the new version has reduced the storage and the cup placement in the front makes my elbow stick in the back to lift my cup up. Kind of cramped.

Are those mileages based on actual miles and actual gallons to fill the tank, or what the truck says?

Good question. I don't trust the trucks estimates. I always calculate it myself when a fill up the tank. The truck is close but always higher than actual calculations.

I edited the original post to indicate this.

I do a mix of city / highway driving. I'm getting 20.1mpg by my calculations. I may be able to squeeze 320 miles out of a tank of gas.

Pretty close to my hand calculations with mine. Average through most tanks has been around 25. Not hateful at all.

Years ago when I drove out west I got great gas mileage. I'm guessing it was due to the non ethanol fuel. Do you know if most stations out there or where you filled up was using ethanol or not?

I live in a rural area and do not travel interstate. 45-55mph zones.

I don't believe you, OP. The difference between 2023 and 2024 Tacomas, all trims, on Fuelly, is 0.8MPG. 18.8MPG for the MY23 vs 19.6MPG for MY24.

Not a whole lot of 24's on Fuelly compared to 3rd gens. It's very easy to get good mileage on these trucks.

You are getting fantastic mileage. I’ve got about 6,600 miles on my ‘23 SR5 DCLB and have averaged 22.5, which I thought was good.

there is ethanol in the fuel in western states. most fuel has ethanol, but you can find ethanol free if you look around. the ethanol free fuel in my town is 93 octane. i do not use it in my truck and use 87 octane with 10% ethanol, but, i do buy ethanol free for my chainsaw and ATV.

Dude, I get 23 in my ‘17 SR5 2wd. Used to get 23.5 before I put slightly more capable tires on. Mostly highway miles.

On my recent mostly highway trip to Oregon from the SF Bay Area, I got 24.7. So the OP is correct. Your Fuelly quote doesn’t match my experience.

And it really depends on if you have 4x4 or 4x2. My daughter’s 22 taco 4x2 gets 26 on the freeway.

I just returned back from my Yellowstone trip. I got 26MPG from Montana to South Dakota (600 miles). I got 24MPG from South Dakota to Iowa (this going against a strong head wind) (620 Miles). From Iowa to Home I got 28MPG (480 miles). I fill up with 87 octane using 10% Ethanol blend and the high way speed was 75MPH for the first 2 legs and 70MPH for the last leg. I am very pleased with the MPG I am getting from my 2024 SR5 4WD. Also the MPG are all my calculation and not the truck reading, as the truck reading is mostly higher than actual.

Those are great numbers, particularly considering your average speed. Imagine if you only drove 60-65 mph and you had a 2wd instead of a 4wd.

Most of my millage is a mix but out of a 30 mile trip 3-4 are on congested Highway traffic the rest is open road traveling at 65-70 MPH. the best I can get is 21.5. My 06 Taco with 285's on her get 19. I'm not impressed at all with this truck and it's a TRD sport not a 4x4
