I see an EV Hummer parked on the elevated display in front of the dealer, maybe that's not the best place for it.

I see a Silverado EV around, probably the same one. Does the Silverado use the same batteries?

Gen4 is a domestic truck styled in California, engineered in Detroit, and assembled in Mexico using the lowest possible cost parts suppliers. So I’m not exactly sure why even a super-fan like myself would be surprised anymore that the finished product is now a rough approximate of a freshly minted Colorado rolling off the line in Wentzville.

Still, I would cut Gen4 some serious slack here on the anecdotal stuff. Most new owners report back that they like their new truck, and looking at the Tundra issues, we know that Toyota will reach into its deep pockets to fix the even the expensive items. So while no midsize truck on any dealer lot these days shouts, “you’ll get 250k miles!”, you’re still better off taking your chances with the Taco.

You don't think the current Tacoma is a 250K truck?

Funny we were bantering about Fords yesterday. Last night talking to my buddy in CA. He has a new F150 with 15,000 miles. It left him stranded yesterday on the side of the road. Went into limp mode and said immediately find a safe place and stop the truck. Had it towed to the Ford dealer near his house. I will report back. My point is ALL trucks are not perfect and the loudest are the people with issues.

250k mi w/o replacement of major components? If you’re asking that about a Gen2, I’ll almost guarantee. A Gen3 and I’ll say probably. No idea on Gen4 until some at least reach 75k trouble-free.

I don’t have Toyota’s internal invoices, but I’ve sampled several examples, multiple trims, and compared to midsizers from Ford, Honda, GM, Nissan. A long while back I regularly inspected new cars for defects from different manufacturers direct from the factory, so I just instinctively notice all the boring stuff like fabrics, plastics, and switches. Believe me, it’s a curse.

You’re right, it’s just my opinion, but if Gen4 is not lowest cost supplier then I’m sincerely surprised.

Interesting, nice integration of the screen. I wonder if a decent payload bump will come with the increased towing.

An interesting side note mentioned at end of the article is that Nissan is known to be working with Mitsubishi on a 1-ton for North America...that could be very interesting as well.

Yeah that 1T will be interesting. I would guess it is strictly fleet bound and not a lifestyle truck.

Is Toyota gonna build it or are they going to rebadge a BMW or Subaru like they did the other 2 (GR-86/Supra)

Probably some low bid piece of trash that won't make it 30 miles before the engine explodes and sends shrapnel in a 300 yard radius like 105 mm airburst white phosphorus.

I am holding out hoping there is an mr2 I know there's lots of talk of it. As well as the SFR that was a concept in 2015 but I belive it has been green lit

Last week a guy a work said he'd probably buy a new Tundra. Knew nothing about the recall, why would he? He was comparing an upper trim Tundra with an upper trim F-150, said there was about a $10k price difference on the Tundra. I said now is the time to buy a Tundra if you want a discount. I can only see the Tundra climbing in price, and that was before the recall.
