After recent developments, I doubt I would be able to get as new of a Tacoma as I was hoping for (2001-2003). I mainly liked those years because of the updated look, and have begun to notice that the 2000 Tacoma isn't too bad, and its a lot cheaper, so that's the main reason I would get that. So my question is: is there any real difference between those two different trucks? Main concern is the interior. I wouldn't expect there to be much difference in anything mechanical.
    Thanks

Other than the face lift, I think the Dbl cab made its appearance & some other small features as far as performance on/off road not a nickles difference

they have sticks availible on the 01-04s. I went with an 02 because it looked cooler:cool: Keep searching a good deal always comes up, albeit after you pull the trigger.

    Look at build!
The Dbl cabs yes, but the ext cabs and single's had the option for 5spd, mine's a 5 spd.

^This! and TRD came out in the first gens in 98 as well, but im not positive if that includes all the bells and whistles of the 01-04 TRD, but probably.

Also, speakers and their mounting devices and access are different. The 2000 extracabs have 6-1/2" in the front doors with no high door tweeter, and 6-1/2" in the rear side panel. 2001 extracabs have 6x8" in the front door with a tweeter high in the door. And a 5x7" in the rear panel. The rear speakers in the 2000 has a removable speaker cover. The 2001 you need to take most of the rear plastic off to access the speakers.

but forget that TBW junk after the '01 models ...muh $ .02

muh '00 has been a pal
I like the '98-'00 front grill better...
mostly for it's simplicity and ease of removal/install
