Question about offroad front bumpers

Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know if I need to modify my suspension to accommodate the weight?

You don’t “need” to, but you will notice a little sag in the front suspension with the added weight of the bumper if you don’t, as well as some changes in the way it drives/ accelerates , etc. How much that brothers you is subjective.

 

for some reason their site makes claims about weight savings,,, yet doesn't list the weight, or not that I can find anyways.
I don't think you would have to, but if it's heavy, it is a good idea if it's heavy,, like 80-90+ lbs.

That bumper is listed at 115 lb on this Canadian site. If you plan to add a winch too, that adds weight as well. The Warn Evo 10S is 72 lb, for example. All of that will cause the front end to sag and excessively nosedive when braking. I'd suggest 700 lb springs.

 

I went with a steel RCI Arapaho with full bars & winch in front and steel Apogee Offroad rear, then steel & aluminum under armor, and steel sliders, and the combination caused a bit of sag and noticeable MPG drop. So I then upgraded to an Eibach Stage 2 suspension and the difference was like night & day! It drives so smooth and the front is now height adjustable for the infamous "taco lean". Just love my truck, it puts a smile on my face every time I slide behind the steering wheel..
