Repainting the vertical deck took FAR too long, but it's done. Hopefully we move before it needs to be done again.

Now that the painting is done I need to take care of some landscaping.

Took out the wall. So how greedy do I get for the shower? 34x48 or push it to 36x60?

36x60 of course. absolute worst case if it's somehow too large, a bench could be added. i'm told that ladies love the bench for shaving in the shower.

Not really. You want to be able to do anything and everything you can think of whenever you think of it, so bigger is better.

not really. as any of us get older, we get less flexible, so the more space to move to perform the same reach, the better.

    F all this noise.

Rented a drain camera myself since the plumber didn't come, found the bladder that was stuck in the line and found the spot the pipe was broken.

Proceed to cut concrete open enough, time consuming without a concrete saw.

Dig out around existing pipe with a Sawzall blade.

Then tried multiple times to glue on two fittings fast enough but I do not have the skill or speed apparently.

Settled on this compression fitting before I was going to resort to rubber couplings.

Letting it dry out tonight so I can watch it tomorrow for leaks before I seal it all again

After getting a quote from Home Depot to reface my cabinets for $23k I decided just to paint them. The worst thing that happens is that I screw it up and have to buy the Hampton bay builder grade cabinets to replace with for $3k. Still not quite sure what kind of gold laced paint that lady was selling when she gave us that quote the other day! Also I have twin toddlers at home so the working time that I have for this project is 8pm-11pm, should be done by 2025!

That will be a very nice workshop. Are you going to lay some plastic conduit below to give you and option of floor plugs? Squeeze in a chase? Just a thought.

No, all sockets will be in wall. I'm going to insulate and cover all the walls and roof interior in 1/2" ply. Might even get a mini split.

Did the same thing with my house, was the most affordable option. I have $300 in paint and new hardware.

Do yourself a favor and get a couple sets of cheap plastic saw horses for the doors, it's a life saver!

I see you've already started priming, but I really recommend and oil base to seal everything and get it to stick. I know having two young children the smell can be an issue. Kilz makes and odorless version. It's not completely odorless, but is reduced a whole lot. I used Benjamin Moore Advance as the paint. It's $80 a gallon, but rolled on correctly it'll look like you sprayed it.

Was the Benjamin Moore just interior paint or a cabinet paint? Probably going to be doing this to our kitchen later this year.

It's an interior paint, but is made specifically for trim and cabinets.

    https://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us.../product-catalog/awiap/advance-interior-paint

It's basically an oil based paint that is soap/water cleanup. Levels out super nice and easy to work with. Roll it on with a 3/8 nap microfiber roller and leaves a smooth finish. I won't use anything else for trim or cabinets.

Which Kilz primer do you recommend? Kilz Original Oil Based? About to do the same on cabinets. Many thanks.

I used Zinsser Cover Stain. It's a little thicker, but Kilz Original will work fine. Both stink, so be prepared. If you can find it, get some liquid sandpaper and follow instructions listed. Makes it stick even more.
