Cleared headlights, Black emblems, Painted black valence on front bumper, 2.5" 5100 Billys front, 1.5" AAL rear, Satin black TRD O/F wheels with 265/75 16 Definity M/T, Spidertrax spacers
So long story short, my GF's Taco had the bumper skin cracked and ripped off because of some asshat in a Dodge Ram. She was parked at Target and the guy backed into her front bumper. His or her hitch ball drove right under the front bumper and when they pulled out...it took the bumper with it. She needs a new bumper skin to say the least.

Let me know if any of you 2005+ taco guys with an aftermarket bumper wants to rid of the OE bumper skin to help us out. Thanks again guys! If its silver...even better!

Anyone have experience with the non-oem bumper skins available cheap online? How is fitment, etc. She's on a budget so anywhere she can save money will be beneficial.

***was just going to buy new wheels and tires and install a 3" lift, until this happened...happy holidays to us huh?!

    Kind Regards,
    Ryan

    Shouldn't insurance cover it?

She did not see it actually happen. She walked out of Target with the hitch under her bumper. She had to pull out to get over it...but the damage had been done already. She camped out waiting for the owner to come out with no luck...left to go to a store down a ways and of course the owner took off with the truck. No license plates or anything on the truck...it was new used. She grabbed the VIN number took some pictures and left a note on the trucks handle with her number...but no one has called her. :(

    Kind Regards,
    Ryan

Insurance should still take care of it! See what the insurance company says before shopping around.

Yes, it was a hit and run...insurance will cover it, but I think her deductible is more than getting a new bumper skin and painting it...I can do the install. We have not contacted insurance yet, but will Monday. Any suggestions on what to do?

wow, if someone did that and I was sure it was them, Id be doing more than leaving them a note. ofcourse I'd be 100% sure it was them before I took any action.

It was them...because the truck still had the hitch ball under her bumper when she came out to leave from Target. She asked me it she should slash his tires...I said no because it wouldn't be right...I was not there...I was at work and she called me as soon as she saw her truck.

If I where you, I'd forget about the OEM bumper and go straight for aftermarket. You can probably get an ARB bumper for the cost of a new factory one.

I'd definitely file a police report. It's best to have that for the future. They can trace out the driver through the VIN. I'd contact your insurance agent for sure. Since you have the VIN of the truck and pictures, they can pursue the perpetrator as well.

    lol.

I heard a tale from an ex g/fs grandfather about when he had a brand new El Camino. He had gone into the grocery and parked way far out from the store all by himself, and when he came out some guy was just opening his car door into his brand new El Camino. Her grandfather started yelling and kicking the guys car all over.

I laughed whene he told me that. Thats not unlike a response that I have given before during similar circumstances.

I was supposed to meet her there because I had gotten off work early, but she said nevermind so I didn't show up. When I saw what damage had been done...I was pretty pissed and wish I did show up...I probably would have had my way with his truck...stupid dodge. :fenforcer::laser:

that stinks! Can you make a police report?
A bumper cover is $258 retail not including paint, materials, & refinishing if you need a go-by. Hope you are able to score one used especially since it should not have happened in the first place. No respect nowadays. I park far away from people!!!

If you have the VIN number and file a police report, it would be the asshats insurance paying for the bumper not yours. I would definitely file a report.

Tell me about it! No one has respect for peoples' stuff anymore! They see a nice clean car and instead of admiring it, they key it...WTF is up with that?! Anyway, I appreciate the help guys! We'll definitely file a police report and file a claim with her insurance company and take it from there. I wanted to see if I could just snag one locally from one of you guys if possible just to avoid the hassle. :(

    Kind Regards,
    Ryan

Me too.... Probably pissed a few people off today,.... taking up two parking spaces, but it was intentional and way out in the south forty where most people won't park since it requires walking.

Hope you find him and get his insurance to pay.

I doubt the police will do a report in a private parking lot. That has been my experience in two different states when people hit my vehicles in a private lot (store and work). Typically, the two insurance companies (if different) will come out and look at both vehicles and fight it out amongst themselves. Your insurance should immediately cover it for you and then they'll get their money back from the douchebag's insurance.

They will if it's hit and run. That's a crime.
