Im not saing we all havent done it at somepoint most of us have learned better. The real issue is its not us you need to worry about pissing off. The people who get trails closed down are the people who bitch the most. The people who bitch the most happen to be the people who will complain that the "grass is knocked down". No matter how innocuous it seems there is someone who will take offence to it. Dont blame us "e wheelers" we just happen to be pissed places get closed because of careless people.

i dont like trail closures any more than you guys do, but i think the tread lightly crew could do a better job of picking battles and save the ammunition for threads that contain pictures more similar to the ford link.

IMHO i see a trail going through a mud puddle... and it appears they are on a trail although it is hard to tell. doesnt look like they are breaking a trail though the woods/stream. Im pretty much done with this its clear it was an honest mistake:D

    Here you go.

Cross streams only at designated fording points, where the road crosses the stream.

When possible, avoid mud. In soft terrain, go easy on the gas to avoid wheel spin, which can cause rutting

    It's all here!

When possible;) If the trail goes through a mud puddle you are not permitted to break a trail around it.

Absolutely not supposed to create a new trail!!!

If the trail goes through mud or crosses a stream you should cross it as perpendicular as you can as slowly as you can and take steps to minimize damage and wheel spin.

Because that will solve the problem...

No, I'm serious regarding Treading Lightly. I'm not going to berate anyone. I'm going to try to show members that there is a serious issue with people doing what they will and not following a simple ethic that helps the ORV community.

Think about the bigger picture! What you do affects a lot more people than you may think.

A couple people going off the designated trail. Prevented me from putting my taco on its lid here... This entire trail is now off limits, because of very similar events to what you see in those pics. ON the trail or AT home. I really dont want to make a fight about it. Your actions do effect others.

I'm not asking you to change what's been done. I ask that people take a look at Tread Lightly and the ethic behind it. Think about the impact you might have on the bigger picture and how it affects the area's we already enjoy!

Looks like you had fun and yall learned something too. We all have to do our part to ensure future generations enjoy these trails too.

Course, the damage isn't due to just him doing that, but everybody else doing it over and over, and that is where the damage happens and that is why things get closed.

Closing trails doesn't help though, that just means people find other areas (not marked or designated) or still go in the closed area. I wish they would designate more areas so we could find a happy mix between preservation and recreation.

We live in Alabama, there are no trails, park rangers or yogi the bear or any limitations! As long as we don't catch the entire national forest on fire smokey the bear will be happy! If anybody feels like riding through a creek is harsh and dangerous I should take pictures of what puck-wood crew does with the land not to mention how they have a controlled burn every year to burn out all the brush for people to hunt the land, even at that the roads have been well rutted by big ass Chevrolet's like my neighbors on 40's romping through the dirt roads!

Some of these threads have the worst examples of OHV usage. The worst part is, the forums are full of "BROS," who support "the kid who just wanted to drive through the river."

No one on these forums cares if you decided to drive off of the trail, through five rivers... just keep it to your self, your friends and off of PUBLIC forums. It is not acceptable behavior at anytime to drive off of the trail to do "something cool," no matter what your Bros say.

There are plenty of people that search forums, like these, for examples to shut down the same trails, you are misusing and abusing. Keep crap like this off of Tacomaworld.
