People are weird

I used to work with a guy who had business type cards made up that said " hey ass hole, next time you park next to me, could you leave me a fucking can opener where I can get in my car"

 

I work near a hotel, park in their parking lot everyday, and use the bathroom there because it’s convenient. No signs state that I cannot, and I never see employees. If this was someone’s residence I would not be doing this obv. But I am not shocked about you buddies place. People are just dickheads.

 

I have bought a many of vehicles this way over the years but I always try to strike up a conversation! OP I see nothing wrong with what you did. I get stopped all the time in my 3rd Gen 4Runner.

 

I did something similar to an unsolicited call from a property investor. Wanted to buy my house & property and would I consider it. I said "Sure, if the price is right." He asked how much. My reply was an amount about twice current market value. He said "Way too much for your area."
He asked, I responded.
Eff off otherwise.

Trespassing? I suppose if you're a recluse or a prepper one might feel that way. I agree with others though - take it as a compliment that you own a desirable truck.

 

It a bit weird in my opinion. I also dislike people messing with my things. It's no better when you are actually selling.

I listed a parts-bike for sale and had a guy show up, unannounced, at 11:30 at night while we were all in bed, lights out. He thought I'd wheel it out for him right then and there and deal.
Few people think beyond their own needs of the moment.

Another one who doesn't understand the concept of private property.

Private means private.

For example some of us have dogs that are liable to end you (among other things). Some of us don't need some entitled assclown bleeding out in the corner of the yard cause he liked the color of my vehicle.

Respecting private property is as much for your protection as it is for the landowner.

Hopefully you'll never have to learn that lesson the hard way.

If a business says its closed on Saturdays, yet the gate is open and employees can be seen inside working, its not completely weird that someone may be under the impression that you're actually open and feel its acceptable to come through.

Honestly, I think if he's interested, he took the wrong approach - not bc he came on the property. But bc he didn't leave a better note saying "Learn how to park asshole - Pete/Max (phone #s)." You would've most definitely called him, and his foot would be in the door, with an incredible moment of laughter and ice breaker.

 

I wish someone would leave a note on my truck asking to buy it.

Mine will always be for sale.
