I think it has to be on a set track so it knows where you're going. Not sure if there's a free roam setting.

I'll have to ask. It does say something about creating custom tracks

Oh shit, I probably have t-shirts older than you. LOL.

Honestly, I still have a t-shirt that Buell gave out back in 1995 when you took a demo ride on the bike in my avatar. Brand new, never wore it.

sweet, I've always wondered about those Racebox timers. I'm looking to save up for an Aim solo 2, not sure if i'm gonna splurge for the data logger version though. Curious to know your thoughts on the Racebox when you get a chance to use it

I've already used it! I used my friend's (which is why there are two in the picture!) and it is super easy to use. With the S you don't need a constant bluetooth connection, so I'd just turn the onboard recording on before the session and leave my phone in the pits. After each session you can download the data and check your times. It also gives you a map of the track with speed, lean angle and g force by corner.

I tried my friend's AIM Solo 2 but its battery life wasn't great and also didn't like how I had to have it mounted. I didn't want another screen on my bike. Also it's twice the price of the Racebox.

ah good to know. Yeah the Aim Solo is a bit pricey. I've used a friends at the track before though and it was pretty simple and effective, nice to be able to review it in unit. I assume it's pretty simple/straightforward to DL the session data afterwards?

Does it plug into the bike? or is it just using sensors inside to obtain the lean angle and such? I'm assuming it's GPS based as well, not transponder?

EDIT: quick google answered my last question lol

No plugging into bike needed, just need to charge it up and stick it on the bike.

A true TRAIL dirtbike thats been converted is top tier, no emissions BS (or not nearly as much as a factory street legal bike). I mention TRAIL cus like stated an MX bike with a close ratio trans, no rad overflow tank, small gas tank dont make a great woods bike. My WR450 is phenomenal off road and its street legal now that I have gone through the process. About the ONLY thing I dont have that I would like sometimes that most factory Dual sport high end 350/450/500cc bikes have is a 6th gear. But I can forgo that 99% of the time, I can cruise comfortably at 65mph on my WR450 without ringing its neck RPMs wise.

Are you still running stock gearing on the WR or did you go up a tooth on the countershaft, or down a couple on the rear?

Stock is 13 / 50 which made first gear almost useless though it was also nice here and there when things got REALLY gnarly and slow. I have played around with gearing and landed on +1 -1 (14/49) which is a 9% reduction in rpms for any given speed in any given gear. A little more clutch slipping for the really gnarly slow stuff but really helped with cruising rpms for the majority of the riding I do and some extra mpgs.

I also have been known to go to 15/49 if its a LONG ride where fuel might be a concern, but thats few and far between.
