Tire disaster.. need opinions

It looks like they took advantage of you with the alignment as well. I'm going to suggest that you take a look at your tie rod adjusting sleeves and your cam adjusters on your lower control arms to see if there are fresh tool marks. They adjusted nothing. Your alignment before was fine. There is absolutely nothing in the print out that would have changed that would have caused any drivability issues whatsoever. NONE. Your caster is the same and the minimal change in toe and camber could be changed by bouncing your truck up and down on the rack. I'm sorry, but you were clearly ripped off.

 

Haaa, exactly my point! It is a machine that an unskilled tech would use. You shouldn't have to pay extra for that. If a moron is doing my balance, they need a road force balancer. Plain and simple. Now, if a shop employes someone like that, they do so because they are cheaper labor wise than a skilled tech so they need better tools. That should balance out. A skilled tech is paid more, but doesn't need a machine to tell them what is wrong. Make sense? Now the problem with the road force is that it isn't just a little more expensive that you can offset skill with a tool. It is a LOT more expensive that you still have a moron working it, but you have to charge your customer more to cover the cost. Understand?

In a lot of Canadian provinces you need a dedicated set of snow tires mandated by law. Guess Ontario doesn't apply.

 

I believe it's 3PMSF is the standard which the GO15s satisfy unlike the LTX M/S2 which is a great tire but is only a M/S

No, no such law in Ontario, but they have 3PMSF tires which are rated as dedicated snow tires regardless.

 

Is that just for 2WD vehicles? 4WD + M/S typically works in the States when a state turns on the "Chain Law" And if it's snowing that bad, I'd plan ahead. And if it's still snowing THAT bad, I'd reconsider travel...

 

The Hunter Road Force Balancer was a requirement by Ford back in the 90's when they were getting belt seperation and eventual blowouts by their OEM Firestone tires What it does is find out of round tires and bad belts. That being said, it doesn't really balance tires any better unless you think that balancing out an out of round tire is a good idea. Before I exited the field John Bean was making a machine that had a laser scanner that did a good job of finding out of round tires, setting up the proper parameters, and verified correct tire mounting on the machine, which, in my experience, was the biggest mistake made with wheel balancing

 

Sounds like Canadians are sensible enough to realize that 4WD doesn't make up for bad tires.

The Michelin Defender LTX probably perform better in the snow than most AT tires, they just aren't 3PMSF rated. Maybe to protect sales of Michelin's dedicated snow tires?

 

Yea, that’s what it is. Higher taxes to pay for road resurfacing every other year too. That’ll show ‘em

 

I know in Eastern Canada like Quebec and Labrador it goes for all motor vehicles regardless of 2wd, 4x4, awd

 

Roads will be shit regardless what anyone runs

OP, you have wants and needs in your post. Get rid of the wants (larger, cooler tire) and just go with the many capable A/T tires out there in the standard size. You wont have any troubles AND you will reliably make it to your appointments through rain, snow, etc. Simplify and you will find less stress and wasted time.

This thread makes me happy that my stock tires work fine for me on the Tacoma. I recently switched the all terrain tires to stock off our new to us 2019 Tundra Sport and the ride improved with no vibration at 50+ mph.

 

I’m running 285/75/16s bfg ko2 regular balance and good alignment.
No issues running 70ish on interstate seems it’s an alignment or balance issue?
Seems alignment could be better to me?
