Rear Main seal is leaking so the trans is coming out. Can I get to the (also) leaking coolant crossover on the back of the block, while the trans is out? .... or am I just not that lucky ;-(
    thx!

Yeah, that’s the preferred way to do it
I think it’s still plastic, anyone making a metal replacment yet?

that's the way they replaced mine. if nothing else inspect it all over for and pink corrosion. i would say replace it anyway but sometimes "if it ain't broke don't fix it".
all plastic and is the same exact one that is on there. I would think a little bit of RTV also would be helpful.
Plastic water pipe attached to a hot engine block it not the best engineering. IMO

It is still plastic, with a superseded part number since 2019, iirc.

No, that is a Lexus part that will need modification to possibly work, no one has done it yet.

Here's the leaking crossover and the main seal area. The oil leak appears NOT to be the seal. itself, but the 'seal holder' which is a flat plate that has its own sealing issues. You can see where the plate sits by the 7 holes. The seal doesn't seal around the crank it seals on the FLANGE.... it's 5 inches wide! .... INSANE! Another questionable design. $1600 for the crossover and main seal repairs. And then the driveshaft needed a collar and all 3 joints, plus it needed balancing.... this is a 2WD truck that lives on pavement! Grrrr. another $580 to re-do the shaft with a Toyota bearing and spicer joints.IMG_3127.jpg

Well damn, at least you got two birds stoned at once..
Not too sure what to say about that driveshaft work, though.

Could be worse, I suppose. Some poor slob just paid $700~ for a tranny drain and fill... and tissue the pan magnets...
