well said. I was just thinking about this today. Congress pisses me off to no end. They need to get off their fat overpaid asses and do something for a change. Take away their private jets and nice cars... guaranteed they will start doing something

I saw the list of what will stay open on here yesterday... Military won't get paid yet... they are allowing food stamps to stay open??? WTF!!!! that is how fcuked up things are!

Of course everyone will get paid back, but you have to think about the service members who work check to check, which isn't good, but everyone's situations are different.

Hopefully people put money aside and can get through this, if it happens. There are emergency loans that the military has if needed.

Damn, I just heard about all this crap yesterday...and the career retention specialists tried to get me to re-enlist because the military "is more secure in this day and age...". Glad a dodged this mess, but seriously...back pay is fine and dandy, but what about the military families that need money for bills/kid expenses/etc?!

I never knew that the whole federal government could shut down and go to furlough...I thought that kind of thing just happened in our school systems... (kind of a bad inside joke around my area...)

You gotta be kidding me!! Way to go 2 party system! The only people that shouldnt get paid are the oxygen theiving land sloths that ARENT DOING THEIR JOBS! If any of us little people in the world dont do our jobs...we get our asses fired. Those rules clearly dont apply to anyone else... Pisses me off to no end.

noted. i have a decent savings accoutn so i hope i dont have to do this. going to have to put off my family's little vacation to florida next month but it will all be good. hopefully this half-pay only last this one check but if they dont conclude this shutdown after 1 week, is it supposed to influence our next pay period?

Just shows the importance of an emergency fund for Military members. I entered active duty with a Wife & Kid as a E-1, luckily I had a Functional who gave a shit about his people and got me setup in on base housing. Long story short regardless of profession look out for yourself and get disciplined with savings in case the shit does hit the fan. Good luck and hopefully this won't last long.

Standing by to "Embrace the Suck"...

And luckily this thread just became a moot point. Another CR to fund core elements of the govt thru to Sept with some "promises" to provide a full budget in the near term passed.

So everyone who has spent the past week worried as fuck about their financial situation...Have a beer and relax tonight!!!

My understanding is that there is another CR until Thursday however they have both agreed on a sustained budget for the year and the House has to vote on it.

So Yes, until Thursday it looks like the Military and Federal Employees are to work and get paid... Hopefully the House will pass the budget!

Nothing official I'm getting everything online right now. I"m still going to work on Monday and will wait for the "official" word throughout the weekend.

My Wife who is a federal employee is looking forward to the call letting her know she can go to work on Monday if what I'm reading is the case.
