I have a manual and engine brake and downshift regularly, dispite the naysayer about clutch damage. I do the same with automatics. My commercial vehicle driving experience is only in the lower mainland of B.C., but the vehicles are all automatic or hybrid. There are some decent but short hills around and as always, controlling your speed is important.

As for transmission issues from downshifting, I have never experienced any. Even coming west out of Jackson, Wyoming over the Grand Tetons with a E350 chassis motorhome with a 460 and C6 3speed. I threw on the 4 ways dropped it into first and did 20kph for what seemed like hours. The temperatures were all fine. The only casualty was the sudden temperature difference in the exhaust manifolds. From red hot climbing to stone cold coming down, I heard the bolt pop like a gun shot right down by my feet.

I'm always posting pictures of my truck with kayaks or bikes loaded up. And every time I wash it I post a picture. I rarely take time to actually post pics of me using my truck for all the crappy odd jobs I do around the house. It's not "picture worthy" to me.

That being said ... Here's my truck doing truck things. Trimmed up a couple trees and hauled the crap to the recycling center.

No pics but bought a new battery today. Got in my truck to go to lunch and it clicked. Got the booster out and started it and grabbed a taco for lunch and a battery for the taco.

I fed the bears, unintentionally. :anonymous: I left dog food and a few drinks/snacks in the bed of the truck under the tonneau in sealed tubs. I came out the next morning to find a "bear aware" pamphlet and a police officers business card on the windshield.

A lot of bear prints and light scratches around the truck. I think most of it will buff out. The X4S took most of the damage. Thankfully i was able to bend it back so it would still latch. $250 comprehensive claim, but debating on just fixing out of pocket to avoid a premium increase. Maybe it's finally time for that shell I've been wanting.

Anyone know the part number for the passenger side bed rail cap?

Yogi and those pic-a-nic baskets! But it was only property damage, not people damage. :amen:

Bears can be a pain in the ass. I had to take down all my fence line bird feeders because one kept ripping them off and taking them into the woods to eat. Thought the raccoons were doing it until one day my wife wakes me up from a nap saying “Uh! There’s a bear in our yard!”
So I look out the slider and
upload_2024-8-6_17-59-9.jpgGot my pellet gun and tagged him and hollered at him to clear out before I let the dogs out. Bastard Olympic high jumped to the top of my cedar fence. Looked back at me like “Man I was just getting a snack” and took off. I then took all my bird feeders down from there and only do suet

If I had caught it tearing into my truck I would have a new rug for the living room. :infantry:
