After my 4 runner was in an accident ( front end collision ) it started having some big electrical and other issues,i decided to trade it in and by a new truck. I didn't want the hybrid engine Toyota was putting in the new Tacomas, so, and my head is hung low when saying this, bought a Colorado trail boss......

7768 miles and its in the shop with what I'm pretty sure is a blown front diff and cv. The only 4 wheeling I've don't with that truck was over my friends flower bed. Aside from not being impressed with it from the start, this just seems to be the last nail.

How is everyone enjoining the 24 Tacomas? It's between them and another 4runner. I gotta say, the bed in that truck absolutely came in handy. I'm tuning I might want to stay with a truck. I'm just trying to get a feel for how people like the new engines, both hybrid and regular, and if there's any QC issues I should be aware of....Thanks in advance.

Get a 23 with low miles. You'll probably be happier.

Can’t find them by me.used or left over. Maybe one comes through in a blue moon. It’s what I should have bought to begin with

I traded in my 203k mile '07 Access cab 6mt TRD Offroad that I bought brand new in Nov '06 to get my 2024 OR Premium with the 8speed auto non-hybrid.

I cried a little knowing that I would miss that truck. My wife said I was more emotional then than I was at our wedding.

I absolutely love everything about this truck. I'm at just about 1k miles and I haven't run into any of the issues that other people have complained about. It rides much better than my old truck did (when new) and you can actually feel the power. Part of that may be due to the fact that I'm at ~5k' elevation and the forced induction motors don't suffer as much from altitude power loss as the NA engines do.

Outside of normal maintenance and wear items (brakes, battery, etc.), all I had to do on my old 4.0L was change the water pump. That's it in 200k miles. The damn thing was/is still on the original clutch. My only concern with the 2024 is the longevity of the engine. I'm hoping it is as good as my old one was but we'll see.

Also, my left foot has been bored. Its taken a while to get used to the auto transmission but it is really nice having features like remote start that you can't get on the manual.

Trade it and buy another 4Runner while you can still get one with the enhanced 4.0L 1GR-FE VVT-II, before it's too late. I purchased my truck to get this engine even without the dual-cam i/e control. I have had it since '21 and have mostly used the open bed to bring home junk and brush to the transfer station, and mulch bags and crap from Home Depot...nothing a good plastic-sheet or tarp couldn't deal with in a 4Runner.

Don't wait until the next generation of the 4Runner is your only option.

You know how it will end up.....:pccoffee:

I had a 2022 SR5 Tacoma with 35k miles on it that I traded in for 2024 TRD Sport. I loved my 2022, but there is nothing I don't like better on the 2024 (especially the seats, ride, and engine responsiveness) and so far I've had 5,000 trouble free miles. You definitely can't go wrong with another 4Runner or a gen 3 Tacoma, but I sure do love my gen 4!

A combination of things. The color was Indigo Ink Pearl so it suffered from the same fate as the rest as far as the clearcoat being pretty much gone with the paint on the hood gone making it look like it had a mustache along with the roof being rusted (Even though I live in the desert SW). It was going to be time to drop some serious money into it for a clutch and new CV axles. Also wanted a 4 door vehicle and something more comfortable on road trips. We had the money and it just felt like time to upgrade.

The 2024 is my 5th Toyota truck. Since 2000, I've had a '93 pickup (Std cab, 22re 5MT), '85 4runner SR5 (last year of solid front, first year of fuel injection! also 5MT), a '90 pickup(also std, 22re & 5MT), the '07 now this one. I love them all but out of all of them I wish I still had the 4runner. It's such a rare thing now to see the old removable top ones and the 22re is my favorite engine ever.
