I would get the premium package knowing what I know now. Have the "base" TRD OR. No rear window opening, many poverty button blanks. It feels very much like a totally base model, despite being two trims up from base. If money is an issue, I get it. If you're not really price sensitive, totally worth the upgrade.

Don't let them hook you for MSRP. Use the term Toyota's suggested price, not MSRP. I got my OR with the Premium package for $51,500.

You can see the towing limits online with the 2024 manual. It's a lot more restrictive than most people realize. 1000 lbs trailer limit unbraked. 2000 lbs and above requires sway controller. 5000lbs and above (insanity to do IMO with this truck) needs weight distribution hitch. Max payload of about 1700lbs including passengers, hitch, and tongue weight. Don't use 6th gear when towing with MT. Nothing above 5th gear towing with AT. Monitor transmission temps when on grades.

All this is directly from the scripture per Toyota.

Would you say that towing a KZ Sportsman 180 BH with a GVWR of 3,500lbs with an TRD OR AT holding 2 adults, a dog and a 6’ bed full of gear is safe?

Toyota says the max tow capacity is 6,400lbs. 80% translates to 5,120lbs. I like to prepare for worst-case scenarios and I know that the dealers just want to sell a truck.

If you’ve ever driven I-70 through Glenwood Springs, CO, would you feel safe towing the KZ in this scenario?

The answer depends on your tongue weight. Subtract it from your payload sticker along with your passenger’s and gear’s weight. If over, you’re overloaded. Get a weight safe hitch and you’ll always know the tongue weight.

That Tremor is beautiful. It could pull a house off of the foundation. Twice the cost of a Tacoma, though.
