A skid plate being half-way held on with zip ties… what if you’re reversing and catch it on something, that damage it would do.

 

I realize it's foolish haha but I didn't see it much harm for taking it to work and back for a couple days. Tomorrow I'm going to try to make it under the truck before the rain starts the rest of the week

 

Got ya… didn’t read that before. I was slightly under the impression that it didn’t fit right and this is how it now lives. Few!!

I’d throw a floor jack under that bad boy… slowly crank her up till you can flex the plate and see where it’s going to meet the frame (crossmember). If the bolts don’t line up, and you love this plate… make them line up. Leave the front bolted and mark where you need holes. Pull her down and hit it with a good drill bit. It’ll go where you want it eventually.

Those brackets are what keep the TRD Skid In-Place to prevent it from flexing within the underside.

Yeah I put them back on and tried again. The front bolts are just fine, it's the back ones giving me problems. OEM skid installed until I have time to make it fit :/

 

i think that’s the safest thing to do!

Are the bolts just not long enough or not lining up?
I can’t be sure but these might fit. I had to buy these for my carrier bearing when I wanted more threads after I installed spacers.

It's just not lining up, there's at least 4-5 inches of clearance. This is from before I put back on the brackets but so you can see what I mean

 

that is a huge difference. Looks like the jack nub would also be in the way.

Do you have any idea who made the skid plate?

 

No idea, only tell I have is it saying Toyota trucks. Picked it up in Ohio on my road trip here. He said it's for a 4-6 inch lift but will be easy to modify to fit my stock suspension taco

 

Yea, definitely starting to think this is for a 4-6” lift with a dropped crossmember. That’s way too much gap, and it’d show damage signs if it were bent that much by accident.

 

Oh yea, that ain’t gonna fit. You’ll have to re-bend both seems and drill new holes as well for rear. Sorry dude.

 

How I'm feelin.. sighhh onto the marketplace it goes

 

…or, you could keep it and add the rest of the 4” lift. Use it as motivation!
