Can’t help but think maybe we see what we are seeing with the tundra situation. People realizing maybe newer isn’t always better in every aspect. Watched TRD Douche Canoe Jon’s last video however he wants to justify it (claims to free up some debt ratio) but going from his 3rd gen tundra and loss at trade and how much his 2019 cost 2nd gen. We shall see if the 4th gen proves as reliable or as desirable for those looking for just simple and reliable and I don’t hate the 4th gen or think the 3rd is without its flaws.

Have never had any of those on mine. Not to mention the engine or a variant has been used in an ungodly amount of Toyota and Lexus products without a recall or large amount of people complaining having such. Not saying it’s not uncommon but not common either.

None but see plenty without issue here and the issue peaks its head well before 100k.

No doubt but we also haven’t seen the new 2.4 with the kind of miles that may prop up new issues. Not saying it’ll be less reliable but we simply don’t know yet, and recent Toyota trends are atrocious

I’m assuming they paid him for it and he rolled it into the Toyota.
I doubt OP will actually go this route as he really seems to like his truck. But I just wanted him to be aware of the option.

I lemoned a car last December after 62 days in the shop. It’s not hard but you have to be patient and follow the right steps. My issue popped up unironically 350’miles in … and after 30k in parts and labor I told them to shove it. Thankfully laws are very straight forward and manufacturers are left holding the bag

Yeah, not the route I plan to go unless it gets truly out of hand.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your PRO. Back in 2005 I ordered a new 2005 BMW M3 Competition, the day after I picked up the vehicle with only 77 miles the vehicle started running rough and a check engine light illuminated on the dash. It did this for several minutes and the M3 returned to running great. Took it to the dealership and a faulty #3 ignition coil was identified. The following week the same issue occurred again. All ignition coils were replaced and I departed the dealership. To make a long story short, 6-months later the vehicle was purchased back by BMW as a branded vehicle and since the first occurrence happened at 77 miles I received all money back. BMW techs could never figure out the issue or fix it. I spent more time driving a BMW X5 instead of the M3.

I purchased a new 2014 C7 Z51 Corvette that was plagued with transmission issues (automatic) and the buy back process was not as easy but eventually they purchased the C7 back.

Hopefully everything works out for you. On a different not we are on a list and with a deposit down on the soon to be released Golf R 8.5 for the wife. She is still driving her 2012 VW GTI Autobahn DSG that she loves.

Let's hope the repairs are the end of it for me. That's awesome though, I loved my 7.5 R, it was my baby for 4.5 years and I'll definitely miss it. Currently also have more seat time in my rental Tesla than my own truck which is a bummer lol.

Are they honoring MSRP? Sometimes the R is hard to come by at sticker.

@fostuhh and @grunt66 quite a bit off topic but Golf R and M3 plus transmissions are making me smile.

My wife is finally over interest in Golf Rs via no more manual transmissions. Our Tacoma is mostly for work but is an automatic to complement her rare last ever Alltrack that is soft of a neutered Golf R Estate. Especially with hers being last run.

For years now including after pandemic, in and out of warranty parts availability has plagued all makes and models we've had. I sure hope your problems are fixed here. It was interesting to read torque converter as point of failure.

Your posts are also entertaining because we decided against M3 long ago and she got the hot rod version of the Volvo wagons at the time. She knew the M3 would not be a great snow vehicle from driving a Mustang GT. Pickups were replaced with 4Runner when I was a guide and then wagons or vans.

We hit 1000 miles on the Tacoma now and my biggest gripe is the Bluetooth turning off CarPlay. We hope that VW also with more 6/72 warranty and the Tacoma have us set well for a few years. We have our Rivian R2 reservation for that time. The Tacoma is more a tool and my ride when my wife has to drive to work.

I read first page and it might have been mentioned but is there an option to have Toyota trailer it once fixed to you? I'd rather the first 400 miles be more local just in case it were something that cause that part to fail. Id hate to have to wait almost a month to drive it home and get paint chips in it ...

They sell at MSRP and only require a $500 deposit to secure a place on the waiting list.

Nope, first gen was and ended in 2004. That’s when the standards went the way of UAW. We still have a 2008 4Runner going strong made there too. You have to pay up for a Lexus to get it now, but they are starting to have their issues too. Everything is going down in quality.

I hope OP’s beta test is over and he gets to enjoy his truck. Looks great though!

I wish... still no transmission. Converters arrived on Thursday, so hopefully it arrives this week.
