I spend most of the time on back roads and the occasional track day. My rides have been about 100-150 miles max and about 1-2 hours. Only way to know if I like it is to spend some time with it. And yes I could always sell if it ends up not being what I want. I really liked riding the R3 but like I said it’s slow and a bit cramped. The Zx10r was just way too stupid fast and I hated the throttle on off feeling even after the flash. So many electronics and a lot of money to purchase. I think this will be a good balance being that it will have plenty of power, handle real good , be reliable and sporty enough to satisfy me.
We’ll time to go take a shower and head to the bank and then to see the bike. Wish me luck.

CA is extremely lax about it. Records will show I purchased my BMW for $2k, the R3 was a gift, and the R6 for $100...

Not judging, but because it's honest? I may hate the taxes, but being honorable requires that I be honest in my business dealings.

I can respect that. Personally I don't consider state sales tax a business deal.

    Maybe?

With PA having one of the highest gas taxes in the nation, 6% sales tax, arcane liquor laws, one of the most expensive toll roads anywhere-the PA turnpike, and some of the worst roads in the country I'm not giving them any more than I absolutely have to.

just a couple of things tbh
ya its always been chill here as well. now i dont go super low ball with things but for junk i will drop it a bit lol
depends on what it is tbh. buying my 98 shitbox civic? ya im not putting 2k on that turd especially how many times its been apart in my garage lmao

old dirtbike nah didnt do that either.

they tax the piss out of us when we buy it and then i pay taxes on it at the end of every damn year so they get more then they need so they can fill the pockets of people i dont care about... instead of idk fixing our roads or anything else!

Just a typical lifestyle bike. One of the couples who used to go on rides with a customer had one, and a Goldwing. If we were going 5 or 6 days, they took the wing, if it was just a weekend destination type trip, they would load the soft tail and ride it. Ton of chrome, fishtail exhaust, the custom saddle bags were leather with red piping and matched the seat and pin stripping he had the bike done in. Had blue dots on the taillight and turn signals. Looked like it rolled out of the 40's. He was a rider, probably 20,000 a year on it and 15,000 on their wing. You could put money on every fuel stop taking an extra 10 minutes because random people piled around it and asked questions.

Kind of like a 50 Mercury lead sled, dont really do anything well other than ooze down the road.

Anything involving money (that isn't a gift) is business, isn't it? You buy a used car/bike from a private seller and you are conducting business, so the taxes owed on that sale would also be considered business dealings, no?

Just playing devil's advocate. I just find this kind of stuff to be foreign because of my upbringing. Honesty was always paramount, even if it cost me, I always had to be honest.

It went way faster than I expected.

    Yup, was 1395 here.

Yeah for me it's kinda a morale fuck you to the state to not pay it. Someone already paid tax on that full sale price. Then it went to another guy and got taxed again. and again. and again. So the state did nothing during the bikes lifes multiple change in hands but continues to collect?

Spent my life in 100% commissioned sales, too easy to get tripped up if you pull facts out of your ass. Now I would sandbag prospective accounts on my call reports (under promise, over deliver) but when it came to business, I dont like being tripped up

I have no problem changing the bill of sale to a lower amount. The cutoff here is $1000.00.
Anything below that, you are still taxed for $1000.00.
Can't get away with it with a dealer sale, but a private sale, absolutely. Paid $4500 for the Dyna, state saw a bill of sale for $1500.
Colorado has extremely high vehicle taxes and the worst highways in the nation. I don't feel the need to give them money that isn't going where it's supposed to.
Tax is only a business deal on the first go around. Taxing the same thing each year is criminal.

I don't because why does the state have to keep taxing a purchase over and over as the bike (or car or whatever) keeps changing hands?

I don't disagree with the taxes being BS. That's something to resolve by replacing those in positions of power with someone with the citizen's best interest in mind rather than the guberment's.

Lots of those people. Trouble is, most don't want to run for any office. A few do, and we should support them, but tyrants gonna tyrant.
