Starting over with a new GMC AT4 Satin Steel Metallic Softopper, Bilstein 5100's @ 1.75 in the front, TSB Rear, 17x8.5 Lvl 8 Guardians, 265/70-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W, Scooped, Anytime fog mod, Osram Nightbreakers, LED Interior lights, Debadged, Painted valance, Removed rear head rests, De-flapped, Hidden Hitch installed, Weather Techs, Flyzeye'd A/W/A, Cover Kings.
Good powertrain "if" it holds up well, some really good thoughts; sway bar disco, bumpers, lift, suspension. The bad/ugly ... too many gimmicks that bring no value; seats which eliminate the back seat as useable for pretty much anyone of any age. JBL disconnecting speaker. Overall fit and finish is terrible with misaligned body panels, bad lines throughout, rattles and shakes. Ok on a 50k truck not a 65k truck. His final thought... get the trailhunter for 1k less and get less gimmicks with more true (ARB) useable off-road/overland equipment.

Those seats in an XC type Pro make a bunch of sense. I will die on this hill. A Pro XC makes the most sense from a function standpoint, but not sales. Those seats are gonna hurt sales anyways, so...

Those seats either become optional, or go away in a year or 2. Almost guarantee that.

In the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the host expresses a mixed opinion about the truck's new hybrid powertrain system and raises concerns about its design choices, such as the use of plastic for coolant and the bespoke filter for the TRD Pro model. The speaker also discusses the rough suspension, lack of paint on certain parts, and the puzzling inclusion of a soft, sealer-like material on the front sway bar. The reviewer praises the transmission and exhaust quality but criticizes the lack of a support bearing in the drive shaft and the lack of a frame-mounted rock slider on the TRD Pro model. The speaker also expresses disappointment over the fake hood scoop, removal of a hood seal, and the inclusion of a minivan-style rear door. The new tailgate design, which uses a motor from a back door shock instead of a traditional shock system, also raises concerns. The interior is criticized for its excessive use of TRD branding, gimmicky features like a removable JBL speaker and large, expensive ISO Dynamic seats, and the overly plasticky and cheap feel despite the high price tag. The major drawback is the high price tag of $65,000 as tested, with an MSRP starting at $63,900, and the lack of rear seat space due to a gimmicky seat. The speaker questions why someone would choose the TRD Pro over the Trail Hunter, which is priced $1,000 less and offers more functional features.

    • 00:00:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the host conducts a technical review of the truck's hybrid engine. The engine is Toyota's new 2.4 L 4-cylinder turbo, which is also used in the Highlander and some Lexus models. The engine has a plastic valve cover with direct injectors on top, making service complicated. The engine is a dual VVT-i engine with roller rockers and hydraulic lifters. It has an aluminum block with a spiny liner, which is not serviceable if damaged. The engine has two front timing covers to avoid leaks. The engine is turbocharged with a single turbocharger, oil and coolant cooled, and has a vacuum-operated wastegate. The cooling system is simple with no mechanical fan, just an electric one. The hybrid system in the TRD Pro is different from the parallel series Toyota hybrid, with only one electric motor and a regular transmission. The clutch that isolates the motor from the engine is hydraulically controlled.
    • 00:05:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker discusses the new hybrid powertrain system in the TRD Pro model. The system uses a 1MHV (One Motor Hybrid Vehicle) theory, which allows the engine and motor to work together in EV mode or when the battery depletes. The battery, which is nickel metal hydride and sits under the back seat, powers the motor and assists the engine in driving the transmission. The speaker notes that the system seems more refined than previous models, making more power and having a distinct engine sound reminiscent of older Tacoma models. However, some concerns include the use of more plastic for coolant, the bespoke filter for the TRD Pro model, and the size of the inverter with converter assembly. The speaker also mentions the heavy shield that needs to be removed for servicing and the same front suspension as the regular Tacoma with some updates. Overall, the speaker expresses a mixed opinion about the new hybrid system, praising its power and distinct sound while raising concerns about some design choices.
    • 00:10:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the reviewer discusses his concerns about the vehicle's suspension, which he finds to be rough even at the softest setting. He also notes the lack of paint on certain parts, such as the axle, which is already rusting. The TRD Pro model features a disconnecting front sway bar, but the reviewer is puzzled by a soft, sealer-like material that appears to be intended as a seal. He also expresses frustration with the placement of an oil drain plug for the electric motor, which will drain onto the disconnecting sway bar. The reviewer praises the transmission and exhaust quality but criticizes the lack of a support bearing in the drive shaft and the lack of a frame-mounted rock slider on the TRD Pro model.
    • 00:15:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the reviewer discusses some of the features of the truck's suspension system and exterior design. The TRD Pro model comes with coil springs instead of the previous leaf springs, making the ride smoother. The rear end has a locking rear differential and Fox shocks, which are adjustable for firmness. The truck also has a full-size spare tire with the same wheel size as the others, and an ARB bumper as an OEM addition. However, the reviewer expresses concerns about the lack of grease fittings, uncoated axle, and the appearance of the front disconnecting sway bar. Despite these issues, the reviewer praises the overall look of the truck, but notes that some exterior details, such as the Toyota Heritage lettering and the finish on certain panels, could use improvement.
    • 00:20:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker expresses disappointment over the truck's fake hood scoop and the removal of a hood seal, resulting in excessive hood movement. The speaker also criticizes the paint quality and the inclusion of a hybrid engine emblem in the bed, which they find unnecessary. Additionally, they express frustration over the inclusion of a minivan-style rear door on the TRD Pro model, which they believe is unnecessary for an off-road truck.
    • 00:25:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker expresses concerns about the truck's new tailgate design. Instead of the traditional shock system to soften the opening and closing of the gate, Toyota integrated a motor from a back door shock. The speaker worries that if an object is in the way, it could be crushed before the touch sensor stops the door. He also criticizes the inconsistent color of the truck's exterior and expresses disappointment in the lack of optional features, such as USB-A ports. Additionally, he points out several gimmicky features in the TRD Pro, including a blank switch in the driver's line of sight. Overall, the speaker raises questions about the practicality and design choices of the new Tacoma TRD Pro.
    • 00:30:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker discusses some of the features of the truck's interior, including a standard light bar with auxiliary switches, crawl control, and a rear locker. However, they express disappointment over the inclusion of a gimmicky removable JBL speaker and the large, expensive ISO Dynamic seats that take up rear seat space and make the ride rough for passengers. The speaker also criticizes the use of plastic materials in the interior and the cheap feel of the four-wheel drive switch.
    • 00:35:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the reviewer expresses disappointment with the excessive use of TRD branding in the truck, which drives up the price. He then discusses the issue with the large, gimmicky seat in the back, which takes up all the space and destroys the function of the truck, especially for rear passengers. Despite the good looks and purposeful design features, such as the high bumper, lifted suspension, and adjustable Fox shocks, the lack of comfort and functionality in the back seat is a significant drawback for the reviewer.
    • 00:40:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker discusses both the positive and negative aspects of the new truck model. One of the features appreciated for off-roading is the disconnecting front sway bar. However, the major drawback is the high price tag of $65,000 as tested, with an MSRP starting at $63,900. Despite some unique features like the ARB bumper and aftermarket collaborations, the speaker criticizes the lack of rear seat space due to a gimmicky seat that can't even recline electronically. Additionally, the truck comes with an expensive JBL removable speaker on the dash, which can be purchased for much less elsewhere. The speaker also points out the presence of fake vents, an overelaborate fake hood scoop, and questionable quality and fit and finish for such an expensive vehicle. The hood even shakes, and various seals and welds have issues. Overall, while there are some positive aspects, the high price and numerous gimmicky features coupled with questionable build quality are major concerns.
    • 00:45:00 In this section of the YouTube video titled "The Unfortunate Truth About the All New 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro," the speaker expresses disappointment with the TRD Pro's interior, which they find to be overly plasticky and cheap, despite its high price tag. They note that the Trail Hunter model, which is priced $1,000 less, offers more functional features and a better interior, making it a more attractive option for off-road enthusiasts. The speaker leaves the audience with the question of why they would choose the TRD Pro over the Trail Hunter, aside from the latter's limited availability.

Beautiful truck. Stupid price. Bad value. Shameful corner cutting like mechanical seats on a $65,000 truck. That's my summary. I am not an AI.

So in my quest in finding out why I can't get the TH I put a deposit down for last fall, I call dealers across the country that get a hit on the kissmygrits database scraper. Of course, they are all spoken for or don't really match what is listed in the database. BTW, no salesperson seems to really know why my particular TH is like unicorn. Anyway they almost all say the deposit line is deep for the Pro, not so much for the TH.

Just here to say they gonna sell every Pro they make. Problem is they ain't making a lot of the Pro/TH stuff right now. Supply side is the bottleneck.

Tacomaworld is not the real world.

They absolutely will sell every one they make, but they also are limiting their market of potential buyers with those seats, @TacoBuffet comes to mind immediately.

It may not hurt toyota right now, but it will once the newness wears off and people get past the first round buyers that a new model brings. That's why I say the seats will be optional or gone in a year or two, Toyota will need those second round buyers.
