We'll just have to agree to disagree on how we view the taxes in respect to the business deal on a used product.

    Agreed. Screw the big man.

Our state then charges property taxes every year too. Not sure how any of this doesn't fall into double taxation

Well, the dealer wants 9K OTD for that bike(minus tax, tag, title from DMV). I'll wait and see if they'll come down in Nov. I understand it's still below MSRP....but it's also a year old and the new gen came out in 24)Kinda like the 2.5 gen of Tacoma). Same basic bike with minor changes.

Kinda disappointed they had "hidden" fees. Last bike was the listed price and $98 doc fee.

Good on you for not buying. When dealers can't sell anything because people are tired of being ripped off they'll start selling the way they used to or go out of business. I refuse to pay their fees. When I purchased my bonneville it was srp plus destination and tax, that's it. Dealers make money at srp. Heck you used to be able to haggle and get below srp. I won't buy from those rip off dealers, bikes or cars.

Yeah, it is what it is. It's not anything that is a must have, so I can definitely hold out. I was just a bit surprised at the extra fees as that wasn't the case when I bought the Rally from them.

Would they budge on the fees since you are a repeat customer?

Damn that's a scam! I'd be annoyed at that one! Don't blame you for walking! No left over year model should have stupid fees!

COVID changed the business world quite a bit, we faced a lot of profit taking at work. Hearing our vendors say cost had increased 10 fold, and then hearing their salesguys, most I had known 20 years telling me they were making record commissions.

Yes! I have several green BIcycles.

BTW, a green Bolt passed me the other day and damn, it looked good for a cruiser!

Also BTW, if you want some ProTaper pillow top green grips throttle tube and grip glue for your new ride, LMK and I'll hook you up. I went with ODI Rogues instead. They're just so much easier to deal with.

Same tax private or dealer in WA, but the sales tax is based on where you do your paperwork to register it. So that can change it by a couple % depending on what part of the state you’re in.

7.8% out here! Plus I can go over to Idaho 8 miles away to get that cheap gas haha

Just means I didn't need it is all :D I would have done 8K, but I just can't add 1K in charges for what is a year-old bike. I'll shoot him a text in a week or two and tell him if they want to let it go for the $7995....I'm a buyer.

when did OTD price stop including taxes and registration fees? kinda counterintuitive to the "out the door" principle

It's b/c I'm in a different state. I pay that when I register it in AL. We have a 2.5% or 3%(I think) vehicle tax here, it's pretty cheap. I think I paid right at $200 for the Rally when I went to get the tag. My tag is only $57 a year, but that first one I got hit with the taxes.

I got the KLX450R running again. I noticed the fuel filter was dry, checked the fuel lines and the main line had heated up and worked its way into a kink that cut off flow to the petcock. New plug, moved the fuel lines, reset fuel screw and she's humming along again.
