It is a fairly trouble free system - except for people tinkering with it...
The later cars did use an electric heating element in the spring box.

Earlier cars didn't have much electrical capacity, the full size fords had an alternator in 66, the cheaper cars like Falcon still used a generator. Higher output alternators were pretty expensive back then, base model cars had around 37 amp units into the 70's.

Discs were a first year option for 1966, this car doesn't have them though. :(

    :gossip: Yet... :D

Got to figure out how to get the Manganese levels down in our water, county did a test and it just came back, apparently our carbon filter doesn't work on that.

Yeah I been researching it too, I can get a triple filter system with replaceable cartridges too. We have a single filter now.

So our whole house filter to remove silt and rust (rust not relevant any longer)uses crushed up lime stone (AKA) calcite. Tank looks like a gas tank

I can't remember if it was @DES2009 or not many moons ago talked about water filters.
    Anyone remember?

In 1966 discs were optional on the front only - today you can put them on all 4, probably not needed on this car.

I was asking about them, similar to the type of stuff shown in your picture. My questions were in the Tractor thread . . .

The red dot above the blue line is where the hot piece of metal went under my safety glasses Monday. Blessed it didn’t go up another 1/8”

It is all in the details...

Remember, in 1966 this was a fairly expensive car from an economy brand, new territory in the market.

This car has 7 courtesy lights, 1 under the dash & 4 in the doors:
    (love the diamond pattern too)

    KIMG4261.jpg

And two in the sail panels - I think these are so slick, there are optional radio speakers behind the grills also. Notice all the stainless trim around the windows.

    KIMG4264.jpg

Check out the elaborate conduit system for the two wires for the front door lights, it moves with the door.
The hinges are massive too. :muscleflexing:

At the very right of the photo you can see the optional parking brake warning light above the brake release.

    KIMG4262.jpg

Here is the same for the rear doors, this one is mounted to the door pillar and the door moves over it.
