So... you can just put your rig in a trailer and it magically returns ready to play? Novel concept. No swearing. No stress. No rusted/stuck bolts. Huh.

But... How does your rig know who to love? You let some other guys fondle their nuts -and bolts- ...

    Jealous.

Happy for you too. Does this mean you have some adventures in the works? Kentwarky25 in the spring perhaps?

    That would be great.
My mods tend to come with 4 days of back and elbow pain.

I lack trust of other people touching my sh!t.

Somewhere along the lines, or maybe I wasn't here yet, I never caught the main reason why you're sending your vehicle out there.

Yea… me too. Better to be disappointed in myself than hold on the angst of someone’s failure to rise above mediocrity.

    We've been...jammed! Raspberry...

This is a dream vehicle for me and I want to keep it for the next 10-20 years.

I have a 9,000 mile trip next June and I want to have it mechanically restored prior, to avoid a 30 year old pump/line/bearing/etc. failing a long ways from home. I intend on going into remote places around the world, one big trip per year.

Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time or expertise to personally do all that's needed to prepare it, with all of life's commitments. It's taken 3 years to get it to where it is now.

Thank you, Pat! It's been a bit nerve-wracking, can't lie, but fingers crossed it goes off without a hitch.

Yes, I'll be traveling to Alaska and back next June with my cousin. Edit: he'll be doing the whole thing on this:

    IMG_20240807_091935.jpg

The shop I'm using is internationally known to be one of the best for land cruisers - even the service writer has an 80 series.

They'll basically do whatever you'd like, all the way down to frame-off restoration work. I've been coordinating with them for the past 5 months to spec out the build and get parts in from Japan and Australia.

I'm as much cyclist as I am auto driver and equipment operator. I exercise courtesy in all of it. Decades ago I drove heavy haul semi, kids in school buses, and we have experienced a family member killed by a jerk driver. As a motorcyclist and bicyclist I've also been hit by autos. Bad injuries in one. All strong lessons in just behave and be courteous.

I'd LOVE to have that bike!

I used to have one identical this, I should have kept it.

That's a super nice bike. The 1250 is the real Cruiser but also... Cost more than a new taco

Sounds like you found the right place for the job.
All at once and be done with it.

I have time. Not always the expertise, though I take a little pride in being able to figure out most things. (that and I'm too cheap to pay for labor).
A regear is above my pay grade atm but if the time ever comes. I wouldn't hesitate to dig in.

Can't wait to see the end result.

Preassembled third members are literally drop-ins. If you can do your own suspension, you can definitely do your own rear gear given that route.

Take the old one out, put the new one in.
    How hard could it be?
