UPDATE/For Sale: So after getting my 2009 back from the body shop after hitting that darned deer (he tastes pretty good though), I realized that the Victory Strike bumper install requires taking off a few brackets. I failed to research that before giving my body shop all the details of doing the conversion, so now I have a few brand new brackets needed for the stock bumper/grill. I’ll add a few pictures of what I have - 3 are brand new for the 2.5G and I also have all the old brackets that are from the truck before I clipped the side of that deer. For the old brackets, everything is in good shape except the driver side far left that goes around the corner. But I think you’d be able to straighten it out if needed (honestly I’d just buy a new one of those). Also, I have the old bumper cover that has damage to the driver corner side, but I’m assuming that the bumper cover is trash?

If anybody needs these, let me know. I’ll hang onto them for a bit.

Did you have any problems with getting the DRL's to work? Mine is an 07 and does not have DRL's but I'm looking to do the same Alpharex headlights and front end conversion you did. Is there anything extra I would need to buy for the DRL's?

My truck doesn’t have Day time running lights either. The Alpharex headlights come with a wiring harness and add a fuse to tap into the fuse box under the hood giving them constant power while the truck is on.

I have a couple of questions what wheels and tires are you running on it they look super clean been trying to find good looking ones that blend well with mine when I do the front end conversion and also what fox lift kit did you do along with that. My last question is was it pretty complicated to do the light bar in the bumper im digging that to.

Still have those metal brackets you took off? I could use all those as I'm rebuilding the front of my 06 (keeping mine 06ish looking though)

I don't have the original 2009 brackets, but DO have the 2.5 gen brackets because I didn't need them due to getting the Strike bumper.

Hey man quick question do you need the hood with the hood scoop or is that only for the sport model? My 2011 truck is a pre runner so I was curious if I could run just a regular 2012+ hood instead of one with the scoop.

The 12-15 hoods scooped and non scooped are all the same size and same fitment.
My truck is a TRD off-road but I installed the sport hood.

So I have a “possibly stupid” question but I’ll ask anyway, why do you need to swap the hood? If the fenders work, wouldn’t the hood work as well? I only ask because I’m getting the parts together for a swap myself.

RockfordTaco is correct, the hood is the same until it reaches the front edge. The grille and headlight body lines are completely different on the 2012-2015 Tacomas and will not fit. It’s been tried before

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Anyone who has done the swap, if you have an MGM bumper from a 2005-2011 (preferably in WA state) please let me know. Looking to go back towards stock-ish.

EDIT, found it. Now I just need the hardware to put it on.

Why of course you will! You will need to send it to a guy who needs one for a similar year 2nd Gen....like myself for example as I had to get a bumper.

Why I'll even pay the shipping cause I'm such a nice guy.

Hey y'all, I'm new here and not necessarily a experienced with the inner workings of the Tacoma. I'm hoping I can get some people who have done this mod to chime in, because I definitely want to do this. Does this require a ton of experience to do on my own in a couple days (minus painting)? I really don't want to have to spend a couple of grand at a shop if its possible to do it on my own with all the parts.

    Welcome!

You got this mod! It can get pricey. I'd recommend OEM parts. Aftermarket is cheaper but often has fit problems. Toyota's website will give you free shipping over $75 and 28% off. In addition if what till a major sale like Labor Day you can save an addition 20%, so free shipping plus 48% off MSRP price. Some things you'll need can be found used as well.

How much rust does your truck have?

You should start your own thread with pictures of your truck! You can ask questions if you can't find the answers you're looking for with the search function. I like to use google with the tag "Toyota Tacoma World" and I usually find nearly everything I'm searching for. This place is great. Hope this helps!

    Good Luck!
