Talking to a seller about a 2011 Tacoma with 9500 miles.

    2011 Tacoma TRD / Access Cab / 4x4 / manual

:: His price is $30k "firm"
:: It's been for sale for 7 months, he started at $35k
:: It's had oil and fluid changes, a new windshield and what he calls "newish" tires
    :: It's totally stock

I've messaged him and basically said, hey I'm not going to pull some craigslist / FB marketplace lowball BS, but I want to know if you have any flexibility at all. He messaged back and said, "still firm."

Edmunds tells me the value is about $21k, but this seems a bit low to me? It's a weird case, because it's not really a vehicle a collector would be interested in - it's just an almost new 13 year old truck. During the height of covid car pricing, he probably would have sold it by now but things seem to be cooling.

I am almost tempted to go for it, it's the exact spec that I want and I've been looking for that combination of features for a while. All the TRDs I see are 4 door crew cab, or automatic etc.

Thoughts? I can afford it, but it seems high and I'm wondering if I can even insure it for what I'd pay. I'd drive it pretty much forever, so I don't really care about resale.

    $30k for a 13 year old truck?
It's due for wheel bearings, fluids, drive belt, and likely brakes.

    $30k?

No. No way. Not all for me.

He's looking for some one to buy him a "new" truck.

Buy what your budget will cover - a 13 year old 9500mile truck won’t be as nice as a $30k 5 year old truck with 60k miles.

If your budget is $21k a normal low miles truck at that price point is also nice.

Don’t focus on the fact it has super low miles. 4x4 manual is nice but I bet there are more out there.

wouldn’t need new brakes maybe new brake fluid, someone will pay that especially if it’s a rust free Arizona frame. The guy would probably get more on bat

I rather have a second gen with the 1gr than a 3rd gen with 2gr and a lot of people share that sentiment

Yeah wheel bearings will last forever here and I changed my belt at 200k / 14 years and it had a lot of life left in it. Southwest is just way nicer to vehicles than anywhere else.

For most people I don’t think it will matter - with a manual either should be fine. Both have way more power and fuel efficiency per whp than my 5vz or 2tr trucks and I’m content with them.

Plus you’re getting a lot of newer features in the 8-9 years I alluded to. OP has to do his research though for sure - based on his own preferences between gens.

I'd rather have a 2nd gen, but if I saw a 3rd gen in that spec I'd go for it.

    I misread the first post.
I read it as 95,000 miles.

But I'm still not paying $30k for that truck.

He will probably get what he wants for it. My opinion is 30 large could be best used somewhere else.

Dude “knows what he’s got!” And he’s gonna have it decorating his driveway (rotting out all the rubber, btw) for a long time at that price.

No more ridiculous than the guy in 2G Classified wanting $20,000 for his 2011 AC MT with 110k miles.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm going to stand down for now and keep searching for the configuration that I want.

    Dude, I wouldn’t pay $20,000 for that truck. I’d pay like $11,000.

    edit: good call, OP, IMO

Bro you live in SoCal that truck would sell for 20k same day easily here, the Tacoma tax is alive and well. I’m sure he would get 30k here as well

$30K is absolutely insane. Keep watching I don't think he will be selling it any time soon. That price will keep dropping.

    What’s up, IE surf brother.

Yeah. Someone might pull the chain for 20. I’m just saying what I’d pay. My 2017 SR5 in SoCal was less than 30k brand new. So I certainly wouldn’t pay 30k in 2024 for a 13yo truck!
