265/75/16's should not cause a problem. They are the same width and only about 1" taller than factory 265/70/16's. That is the size I've had on my Tacoma for years. There are no downsides, and they are often less expensive because it is a more common size.

The problem you have is a very aggressive MUD tire. They suck big time on pavement. Especially wet pavement, light snow and ice. They are pretty good in very deep snow off-road or unplowed roads. That type of tire is the last thing I'd want on my truck for what you want to do. You will never get them to ride good, or quiet. It ain't the tires fault and there is probably nothing wrong with your truck.

You need a decent All Terrain tire or even a street tire.

OP has Baja Boss AT, not MT. It's a fairly middle-of-the-road AT tire. Looks she got one tire that is manufactured poorly, out of round.

The Toyota dealer saw a gravy opportunity fixing another shop's problem, and took her for a ride -> $480 for alignment and balancing four tires.

Haaa, you may want to look into that a little deeper. GM signed a deal with Hunter. They don't require the balancer because it does something special, they signed a deal for alignment equipment as well. Nice try. No apology.

You should also know the 3PSF symbol isn't regulated in Canada like it's regulated in the US. i.e. it's fully legal for a tire mfr to put the symbol on a DOT slick tire in Canada.

Pretty sure @Sungod was assaulted by a Hunter tire machine at some point while he worked at jiffy lube.

So the dealer was able to fix the alignment and rebalance, but one tire was factory defective.

265/75/16 is fine as others mentioned. Michelin LTX M/S are butter smooth on the freeway and surprisingly good in the winter as long as you don't plan on 4 wheeling around. Otherwise GoodYear Duratrac or Toyo Open Country AT3.

All tires have an ink stamp on the sidewall. That stamp should be right next to the valve stem when mounted and balanced. Occasionally tires are out of round from factory. I've heard of it's more common with Falken AT3w's and heavy mud tires.

Find a new shop next time that knows how to properly mount and road force balance tires. Perhaps a warranty claim can be submitted through Mickey Thompson?

Oh this story gets so much better. Toyota literally fucked me .. gravy boat for sure!

The tire shop road balanced the tire and told me if toyota did that also where is my printout as they were eager to give me the alignment sheet!!

They are going to warranty 2 out of 4 as per mickey thompson guy oked 2 not the full set.

Man for the type of driving you will be doing, it would be best if you stopped concerning yourself with how the tires look. Just get a set of Michelin Defenders - 265/70/R16 or 265/75/R16, your choice. They will keep you safe all year around, will save gas, and honestly will go anywhere you need to get, on-road or off. They will run smooth and quiet and last almost forever.

I am a Michelin fan. I have a lot of miles on these tires. It only takes one save from an accident to justify the price. Mine have saved me more than once. I have close to 300,000 miles on defenders on 3 different suvs and my truck. Lots of the miles were interstate roads in the north east under all conditions. I highly recommend that you try a set next time you have to retire you truck or car.

Why would you buy new tires for a truck you plan to retire?

    You should write re-tire... ;)

He gave you the EXACT request you asked for, a GM bulletin #: 17-NA-170, dated January, 2019, stating Effective February 2017 (May 2017 for Canada), a Generation 3, 4 or 5 Hunter Road Force Balancer is designated as Essential Dealer Equipment. The Hunter road Force Balancer is required to be utilized for all repairs requiring balance and Road Force measurement (see list of Labor Operations below). No other wheel balancer will be considered an acceptable substitute in GM Dealers.
Whether GM signed a deal with them or not, he showed you exactly where "GM specified the use of this machine," per your request. No ones twisting your words or making some underhanded claim about Hunter machines, they're just using your own words against you because you're prideful and wrong. Your hatred for road-force machines spills into your everyday ability to have a conversation about tires. You spill the same information in every tire thread every time someone suggests road-force balancing.

GM are the ones who specify the standard limits for the roadforce measurement, which is only measured with a road force balancer. Do you have any clue how ridiculous you sound arguing against an actual measurable aspect of a tire/wheel assembly which does have an effect on NVH?

I'm sure somewhere in your family tree there is a dude arguing the superiority of a static bubble balancer and split weight method over those new fangled spinning balancers and going on ad nauseum about how they don't do anything more than a static balance.

Sounds like one of the tires where egg shaped, they will balance out, really hard to detect without knowing what to look for.
