Beside the windshield seal I don’t see the lack of quality people are commenting on, interior seems high quality, fit and finish is great, the exterior body gaps and lines are great on my truck, frame is beefed up with great corrosion protection from the factory, engine is smooth runs great, minimal vibrations compared to the prior gen.

I agree the 3rg gen interior is cheap actually very cheap, but none of mine have rattled or made any squeaking noises. Suspension is dead quiet.

I just drove over 100 miles of Vermont shitty dirt roads, and my truck made none of these noises.

My 3rd gen company truck with almost 100k, makes none of those noises as well.

Things look a lot different when you spend money on it.

It is easier to dogpile off of third hand information.

Sure, if that's what it was. It isn't. I've examined several, driven several. Its also easier on the ego to ignore the truth sometimes.

Definitely not doubting that the materials are cheap on the third gen, but I don’t have any rattles or noises either. It just baffles me that a near $70k midsize truck just has “decent” quality. At $70k for a Toyota, it should have PERFECT fit, finish, and quality but like AMD is saying, it doesn’t at all.

Naw. Dogpiling very obvious past couple of months. Sat in a 4G. Quality is same as my 3G. Mind hive does what it does.

I want to agree, but Toyota has always relied on a sea of hard black and satin silver plastic in its interior. My 07 tundra/08 sequoia, 12 4Runner, daughters 22 Tacoma. All the same in this regard.

A fix for what? Something that has happened twice in over 100,000 sales, millions of millions and a giant Youtube contingent beating the ever loving crap out of these in Hawaii and in Colorado and not one shock broke. It doesn't work that way. They will replace the few one off's. Unlike the Tundra issue this is not news and worthy of some national recall and "fix". If you want to beef it up and take a precaution like about half the after market is then spend the $99. If not and you happen to have a 1 in 100K bad shock then get it fixed at the dealer. Good lord people is this the first new car/truck you have ever bought. Go peruse the Jeep forums. How about the Chevy Colorado forum. Oh god better not buy a Colorado with a moon roof the roof may collapse.

But for how long will people pay top dollar for mediocre quality?

Used low/mid mileage 2nd gen TRD offroad...18-22k....Mid travel build including custom tuned King shocks and armor with accessories ...14k.....Supercharger 9k installed....Wheels and tires (33-34") 2k ....Alpine Hallo 11 touch screen stereo with speakers...2k installed.
Having a reliable proven offroad truck, parts are everywhere, easy to maintain, easy to trail fix....for 50K turn key

Is the interior dated...sure is but you can buy seats, seat covers and a plethora of interior mods

Buying a new "tech" updated Mid size truck poorly engineered and tested for 70K plus adding or even considering after market upgrades is absolutely mind blowing people would even venture down that path!

50k for a tacoma in 2019 was still a lot of money. Plus, interest rates were much less.

Confirmation bias is one hell of a drug, especially when it's so easy to find information that supports the point of view you want to believe.

Gotta admit I was surprised to hear the axle and driveshafts are uncoated. I don't live in a salt state but I would guess that'd be a pretty bad idea for midwest trucks.

Why not buy a sr5 and build it up to be the same? Best of both worlds?

Many do not pay cash lol.

    From experian,

The vast majority of car buyers use an auto loan to finance their purchase, but cash has become more popular in recent years. In the third quarter of 2023, roughly 21% of new car buyers paid with cash instead of using a loan, according to Experian's State of the Automotive Finance Market, up from about 14% in 2021
