Hi there. I'm Jon. Got 2008 Taco Access Cap TRD this week. Love it. Under 155K miles. Found front passenger mud flap is cracked almost all the way off. The other three look good. What should I replace it with? I only looked at Amazon and saw really cheap ones and weathertech ($$$). I believe in buy now cry now... meaning i don't like cheap junk. So what's a good option? A particular brand? The cheap Amazons? The weathertechs? Original from a dealer or such?

Welcome to TW. You have to replace 2. If you only replace 1, how do you think that would look.

The stock mud flaps are too long which can cause damage to the fender flare/liner. Most members remove the mud flaps.

Thank you for all your responses!

I didn't even think about longer vs. shorter. From @stocko taco post, maybe I should get shorties. (thanks for the tip stocko taco)

Hey @spitdog I'm in Indiana. I could put one orange flap on and someone would think it's cool. I once saw a cosmetic mirror duct taped over a broken passenger side mirror :jpow: Indiana Bling! :jpow: Don't worry, I'll probably do all 4, unless I go OEM. Even with OEM I guess there might be a mismatch from UV fade on the originals.

Hey I like those too! checked out their site. Looks like a similar price to weathertech.

I might plastic weld the crack to get through another week. Or remove them. I've got enough to do this weekend. New headlight buckets, fog lights, grill and seat covers. Gettin' old an slowin' down o_O

Thanks again to all of y'all

Let me check when I get home. I have (or had) a front single from my 08. Not sure what side. It's yours for the ride if it'll work for ya.

I used a $5 piece of conveyor belt. Way tougher than anything sold as a flap.

If the fronts cracked open like mine I took them off and fixed with JB Weld Plastic bonder running a seam on each side better than new.
I cut like 4" off with tip snips on fronts and remounted. File and sanded the edges so can't tell.
Rears cut off right under the 4x4 or about 2".
Perfect now. Remounted with stainless and new plastic push pins. Cheap and easy.
Most aftermarkets holes are off so hard to mound and too long also.

Heya muddog, thanks for the tips! I might do just that. I didn't know about the JB weld for plastic. That's got to be better then doing a plastic weld. I don't think any of my plastic welds failed, but PITA and dambid stinky when doing the work :bananadead:
