I use it every day on the Thruway. It's made me notice how inconsistent everyone else is with their speed.

yup ... and for his stupid comment .... let me put in a list of road trips ive done since i began driving, and why once i get money i plan on possibly adding aftermarket cruise to this truck since i hope to finally keep something longer than 2 - 3 years.

list of "big" road trips (i consider it big if it involves going to a different state, and Reno, NV doesnt count cause thats relativley close, however am counting southern california ones)

    91 civic lx 4dr
Aug 02 - Napa, CA to Klamath Falls, OR
Oct 02 - Napa, CA to Fort Collins, CO

    94 accord ex 4dr
Mar 04 - Napa, CA to Lake Havasu City, AZ then Las Vegas, NV then Carson City, NV
Mar 05 - Napa, CA to Phoenix, AZ then Sedona, then Prescott, then Lake Havasu City, AZ
Apr 05 - Napa, CA to Eugene, OR then Arcata, CA on way home

    96 Acura Integra LS coupe
Mar 06 - Napa, CA to Tuscon, AZ, then Phoenix, then Sedona, then back to Phoenix, then Lake Havasu City, AZ
May 06 - Napa, CA to Lake Havasu City, AZ while towing a 12' alum boat (55 mph speed limit if towing in CA)
Sep 06 - Napa, CA to Las Vegas, NV
Oct 06 - Napa, CA to Ensenada, Mexico
Feb 07 - Chico, CA to Palm Springs, CA

May 08 - Chico, CA to Minocqua, WI
Jul 08 - Minocqua, WI to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada
Aug 08 - Mincoqua, WI to Dickinson, ND then Boseman, MT, then Big Sky, MT, then Helena, MT, then Missoula, MT, then Kellogg, ID, then Portland, OR, then Chico, CA

Apr 11 - Napa, CA to Nehalem, OR then Warrenton, OR then Portland, OR, then Redmond, OR, then Port Orford, OR

other notable trips, these cars all had cruise, civic was ex g/f's, and i was helping a friends mom sell the subaru (but not before putting 7k miles on it lol)

I rarely used it on my previous vehicle, mostly due to all the idiots here who constantly speed up and slow down over and over again (then they all speed up by 30 MPH as soon as a passing lane opens, so you can't even pass them without risking a nasty ticket. Stupid people.)

I don't miss cruise control too much. It'd be nice for driving through Nevada...but I don't do that.

having just gone to oregon, it seems like unless youre on i5 people drive way too slow then do exactly what you describe if a straightaway or passing lane comes up

I hate it! Absolutely useless! Like stated earlier it downshifts and accelerates way too much. It doesn't seem to know how to cruise!

I love my CC. In my 06 DC Tacoma it would downshift ALOT for even minor hills. The '11 DC doesn't seem too. However, I added the CAI and while the engine is under a higher load you'll hear the CAI growling. I hear it quite a bit when on CC and going up a hill, but it's not downshifting like it used to on my 06. Could be the newer CC tech, could be the CAI, but both engines were 4.0L v6. Go figure.

I use CC all the time. I guess it's the pilot in me, I like constant speeds.

What I hate about CC is the fact that nobody else on the road seems to use it. It bugs the hell out of me when I'm at my constant speed of 65 mph and another car keeps yo-yo'ing back and forth past me in the other lane over and over and over and over...

And the other major pet peeve about CC is when I'm passing a car while I'm going a constant speed and the instant I come up alongside the car that I'm overtaking, the other driver speeds up to my speed and wont let me pass. Nothing makes me want to get out and club the other driver with my mag lite more than that.

Cruise control is awesome! Especially on cars with a manual trans. It always behaves exactly like you want.

It can be extremely frustrating on automatic vehicles. It shifts whenever it feels like it, and if the speed limit changes or traffic clears and you want to speed up 5 or 10mph by holding down the accel button, damned automatics almost always downshift! Pisses me off soooooooo much. If you really wanted to get accelerate as fast as possible you wouldn't be using the cruise to do it.

I love cruse control, I just spent $420. + tax to have one installed on my regular cab. I use it all the time, city streets or the interstate. It really helps me keep closer to the speed limit.

wow... I thought putting cruise on a Tacoma that doesn't have it is a simple matter of buying the stalk and putting it in the steering column... like $40-50 or so. It's DbW controls and motorized throttle that makes it such an easy add-on, everything else is in the vehicle basic design.

    Could be wrong though...

Although I initially put that I don't use it, I have started trying to use it to keep my speed stable in the hope that I save a tad bit on gas.

Btw just tapping the cruise stalk up and down a click adds 1MPH to the equation. You don't have to push and hold until you get a response, just bump it up two times for 2 MPH, and down 1 time for -1 MPH.

I didn't know this till my second tacoma...

I couldn't live without it. I spend at least two hours a day running back and forth to work, so my foot would get me in trouble if I didn't have cruise.
