It's less Tacoma and more mod
The ends are just tough to remove cause it is hard to put torque on or firmly hold the shaft to unscrew the ends which are superloctited on. You have to get them hot with a torch to stand a chance at releasing the loctite.

Yeah, Monte mentioned these: https://shocktherapy.com/products/shaft-clamp or https://www.schmidtyracing.com/Shock-Shaft-Holding-Tool-Soft-Jaws-p/nstbsssj.htm

I guess the question then becomes if those are worth a try (I have only a 5" yoast vise and propane torch), or if - for the sake of time - I should just send them in. Guess I'll see what the cost differences are and go from there.

    Inquired about 12" rears, too.

You'll want to use a 10ton or 20 ton press with those. I'm not sure a vise will hold it enough.

 because I wouldn't mind going to 12's. I really need to move my lower mounts down to get more 50/50 but then I would be losing some downtravel. 12's would help with that a bit.

Oil analysis came back yesterday - overall better than expected. Totally worth the $35.

Having very little history of the truck prior to getting it in 2021 and with the shape it was in upon purchase, it was great to finally get a picture of inside the engine. Also just had the rear main seal replaced at a shop... 1.5 weeks and they had to do it twice. Bet that wasn't a fun job - exactly why I didn't want to attempt it :)

Yessir, built it about 3 years ago now. Ill get it painted/powdercoated someday but i keep changing things up and rewelding etc. so just havent bothered too just yet. 35s too was my favorite upgrade so far. Plan is regear and eco crawler this winter. If you look close at the second pic you can see a sort of haze from burnt clutch from riding it going up the V-notch out here at Wheeler Lake haha. Definitely need gears at least...

Running 2.5x12s. Mix of dakar and 2nd gen leafs cut down on a 1” shackle. Pulling just shy of 12” @ full droop. Definitely all you can get out of a “stock” pack.

    Make the notch?

I finally got it a couple weekends ago. That line scared me after messing it up a decade+ ago.

Felt kind of like cheating now, though. I idled up it in double low, double locked.

Also it the last week I found a leaky rear main, replaced a bent tie rod, welded up a cracked spindle gusset, and wheeled it.

Surprisingly I did but at the expense of clutch life haha. It had 217k in it I think anyways. Took the third try/line. End up sticking far left, keeping passenger in the crack for a bit before turning passenger and leveling out/stradling. It was a good time. First time as well. Can’t wait to be doubled and geared though then go back and feel the difference haha.

I'm still unsure of 63's on my rig yet. Like Brett has mentioned before, I fought for clearance with the lifted tank and even frenching it into the frame might give me extra drag I do not want.

Dang 35's and stock gears still?! I burn the clutch on 35's and 5.29's on the rock gardens. Got an eco crawler that's been sitting in the garage for over a year now.

Built a simple platform for my portable 12V fridge in the back of my Xtra cab. The fridge and platform are held in place by 6" tie downs hooked on to the seatbelt hardware and the fridge handles. Very excited to not have to pack and store ice anymore for my backcountry trips!IMG_4976.jpg

I've already drug the shit out of my stock hanger skids. The people that say moving the front forward isn't a problem need to play in the rocks more. :luvya:
