    And I’m still in it for less than it would have cost from the dealer brand new!

    I have generally had really good luck with junkyard parts.

    I pulled the control module out today to see what it looked like, and I’m honestly amazed it worked at all; I am to blame here because the backlight for the dial did not work, and I would use percussive maintenance to make it work. Needless to say, it lasted about a year which included more than six months of unemployment, for $150. A new one from the dealer would have been over a grand; I am a bit pissed that I am now without A/C until tomorrow, but I am generally happy…

    I also cannot remember if Joe salvaged this connector or replaced, but it’s getting replaced on August 26th when I bring the truck in for an inspection and oil change…

    So that plug was reused and is working fine…

    Know how I know?

    When there was a short in the system, that plug and the wires would be scalding hot; I pulled the control module out last night after the A/C had been on for a while, and nothing was hot. The problem with the A/C this time seems to exclusively be the fan control.

    When the AC is on High, it bypasses the resistor. And all the current goes through the switch.

    Also, that plug was cleaned up and reused, and is working fine. What seems to have happened here is the already worn out control module fell apart because I smacked it to make the light come on...

    The pins that are burnt are for High setting.
    One is power the other is ground.

    I'd ask Pete what he thinks.
    If you like running the AC on High speed, the problem wont get any better.
    If Pete thinks it's fine, plug it in and be done.

    There's actually a "mod" for this. You bypass the switch and use a relay.
    @Dm93 did a DIY.

    That's probably what's coming next, the relay...

    However, I'm telling you that the wiring was not hot; Joe cleaned up that switch really good, and it seems to be working fine. The problem seems to be exclusively with the module and not the switch. I am solely responsible for the module getting fucked up, because I bought it sight unseen and it ended up having a backlight that worked intermittently; I would smack that are of the module and it would make the light work. Last night, it decided to spontaneously shit the bed...

    Blake is always busy, and I'm thinking this was just the folder being put into the wrong place, because there is no folder named "Charlie" on my external hard drive; I'm a bit annoyed, but Blake has been good to me over the years, and I think this was just a mistake. The hard drive literally spent eight hours in my truck while I was at work, so there's nothing that could have possibly happened to wipe the damn thing!

    It possible the old switch (First one. Original) caused the burnt pins.
    Since this one only works on low speed, I'm about 90% certain it is the switch.

    Why 90% certain. Because, who know. Weird things happen.
    Maybe, but unlikely, you have a bad resistor and switch.

    Ok, I have to be honest here.
    The only reason I'd check, is because I know how.
    And I'm averaging 50% on stuff when I don't "check".

    The inside of the module is damaged from me smacking it, like broken apart; I posted a picture. It was literally working one minute and then it wasn't///

    @TnShooter

    That is what the backside of the HVAC module looked like when I pulled it out. That little red ball thing in the picture snapped off, and it ceased to function. When the fan speed dial was turned, it felt very loose. As stated above, when I pulled it out, it was broken apart...

    When you say "switch", you mean the whole big module with the three dials and two buttons, correct?

    So, it was running immediately prior to me popping it out of the dash, and it wasn't hot. I pulled it out because I was afraid I was going to find scorched wires and blackened plastic. That scorching you see is from last year; Joe repaired and thus salvaged that plug. The assembly is physically damaged, which is the result of me punching it repeatedly to make the backlight come on.
