For sure. While ive had good customer service doesnt mean everyone has.
I'm pretty sure he got the seal thing fixed. Close friend was part of the bad batch of seals. Got it installed, instantly pissed everywhere. Pulled, sent back. Got it back, did the same. Travis's response was a genuine WTF? and went through a bunch of racks and found issues and fixed. His rack has been fine since all good. During this also my friend has been on the east coast, so yes down time was involved also.
Also yea, the racks are still a weak point with 37s wheeling in the rocks. Especially the guys in the PNW.

 

im not going to hash out dirty laundry on the internet. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and interpretation. did i totally slam Solo Motorsports for how they have been making their racks super ghetto hack the end and weld it style causing multiple seal failures, i rebuilt and remachined 14 of em now. literally called the owner of Solo and had a good conversation with him and believe they have fixed their version. but nobody talks about that. always the one bad apple. am i perfect? nope
toyosteering too, rebuilt a bunch of his rejects for folks as well.
have i made mistakes? sure have, try to improve from em and mitigate them when i can. i also dont recommend this mod to go on your daily driver, your still financed vehicle etc. these are custom hand machined offroad parts!!! things can happen, go bad, installed incorrectly etc. im not a darn robot sorry.

 

I now also provide ram end options, 14mm(tacoma) and 22mm(4thgen runner, Lexus GX, FJ)

 

I had heard at one time on her that you were thinking about / working on some sort of locating pin or set screw for the offset bushings, to help them stay in the correct place. Is this true ? If so I’d be interested.
At the moment I am torquing the own Tacoma rack bolts down to OEM spec, but they will still allow the rack to shift left and right. Do you recommend anything tighter than the OEM Tacoma spec ?

I’m finally getting around to installing the Tundra rack. Any way I could get one of those handy install templates from you Travis?

 

Do you know if any of the 22mm tie rods are same length as Tacoma? Will I have to install a different diameter mounting hole on the knuckle too?

 

Going to a 22mm tierod on say a tacoma has no benefit, tierods don't break where they attach usually

 

Here's a Solo Rack for reference...since the peanut gallery wants to bash me privately and across platforms lol....since yall are experienced Machinists and hydraulics experts...whats wrong with that ram?

As the owner of the original rack where I had to weld bangs to mount it, I fully support this decision. People can jerk off and buy Solo product - over 100K kms on Travis rack with 35/37s in the rust belt and zero issues.

 

I’m not a machinist or hydraulic expert, but I’ve put enough shafts in beavers to know what one looks like if it got chewed by one.

 

Anyone who thinks your rack is not worth it should just get the cheaper one and see for themselves. Have fun with a complete failure on a trail. Lol

 

The complete failure we had on the trail was a Basikbiker rack though, so...

 

100% of my trail failures are my fault

 

Bummer people are giving ya a hard time Travis. Don’t know back story but no one’s perfect and you do great work. The abuse your truck and most of your customers put these parts through is a testament to that.

 

Does this modification remove the failure point of 2nd gens where the wheel ends up with some slop? Or is that more of an issue with the U-joint section?
