Do you guys think this is my serp belt? This squealing just started happening out of the blue yesterday. Have not done any offroading or abnormal driving than just around town.

It will make this sound on cold/warm starts no matter what, for 4-5 seconds then it stops. That leads me to believe its the serp belt. I only have 51k miles, how could the belt go so early?

    should i just replace it?

Maybe it’s just me or the audio, but the noise almost sounds metallic, like a bad idler bearing or something.

Shut your ac/ heater off and try again.

I don't think that's your belt. Thats a pulley or something else lol.

I just replaced my idler pulley and belt over the weekend, sounded nothing like yours. Granted my squealing had just started and only was really happening when it got hot.

Also, 51k for a belt isn't unheard of. I replaced mine at around 35k-40k. And again just now at 80k.

The belt would be the first place to start. You'll see people get a very wide range of milage out of them.

I have 170k miles and changed just the belt at 100k and never had any noises.

I agree with those who say it doesn't sound like a belt.
I'm not sure what it could be though as I've never heard that on any of my vehicles.

Good god definitely not the belt … sounds like a screaching dog … I would start with removing the serpentine belt or loosen it and turn each pully .
