My tires were delivered early and I got them installed Wednesday. After driving around with them the last couple days, I can say the ride quality is almost the same as my old SL tires. They don't seem any louder, and even though they're 14lbs heavier than my old tires, I don't really notice the weight. I can feel maybe just a bit more grab when breaking just as I'm coming to a complete stop, and maybe just a bit more of a push needed at initial acceleration. But after that, getting up to speed is fine. These narrower tires seem to corner easier too, but the heavier turning on my old tires was probably due to the offset of my wheels (-25) and the high castor of my alignment (5deg). I did get a CMC last week in preparation for these tires and I'm glad I did. I do still need to trim the front fenders a bit as those still rub a bit when turning in reverse. As far as MPG, still need to put a few more miles on 'em to see where I'm at.

Overall, I'd say I'm very happy so far!

Update with more info and before/after pics:

I'm definitely revving higher and cruising at a slightly higher RPM. It also doesn't seem to know when it wants to shift into the next gear, even worse than usual gear hunting. Looking at getting an OTT tune to adjust for the larger tires plus a few other things. Don't think a re-gear will be necessary.

I have a 2015 Tacoma, full stock SR5, Double Cab, 6' bed. I have been running a set of BFG KO2 in stock 245/75-16 size for the last 6 years & 110Km. They wore well, and handling was quite good both on road, and off. But I was growing weary of the harsh ride (no surprise I know). And since I don't off-road much, I was ready for a smoother ride, without giving up snow and mud capability. A nail puncture pushed me to replace the set a few months before I wanted to though.
Based on the positive reviews here, I went with the Wildpeak AT4s, in a 265/70-16 size. The wider tire fills out the wheel wells much more and they look pretty aggressive. Based on factory specs, the AT4 weighs 45lb in the 265/70-16 size, vs. 48 lbs for the KO2 in 245/75 size (and 50 lb. in 265/70). So I'm looking at 3-5 lb. weight savings per tire.

    First impressions are as follows.
A noticeably more compliant ride, on small cracks and expansion joints, compared to the KO2. Less 'jiggly' ride. The softer sidewall definitely flexes more and makes highway driving more pleasant. Noise of the new tires is totally acceptable, most noticeable around 30-40 mph, before wind noise drowns it out. Its not fair to compare sound to the worn out KO2s, cause they made a loud drone for the last year as the tread was cupping and near the bottom. I do notice a little less precision when tracking through truck ruts, and quick steering transitions. The KO2s were fantastic for stability in all conditions - like a freight train. The Wildpeaks wallow a bit in comparison. An acceptable trade off for me, as the Tacoma is hardly a sports car.

No off road, snow or fuel economy results yet, but pretty happy so far.

Just got the at4ws tonight in the 265/75R16. The shop inflated them up to 33 PSI but thinking about running a little higher. What are you guys running yours at? Will 36-37 PSI help with MPGs? Just drove for a quick trip home but seems a little pillowy like they can use a little more air.

Just got mine on today as well. Shop aired mine up to ~37-40 PSI. Like you I haven’t driven them very far yet and was driving slowly from the shop to get home due to carrying the oem tires/wheels without tie downs. At this PSI, I can’t say it really feels squishy, thought the initial ride was kind of nice actually. However, I am considering airing up to 42-43 because front tires look a little under inflated under load to me. I’m curious to hear others thoughts. IMG_0517.jpg

The shop installed mine at about 44 psi ! No wonder they didn't feel too much different from the KO2 at 30 psi.
I aired down to 36 psi, and they feel better overall. Will run like this unless there's solid feedback to run at different psi.

For anyone reading this, I HIGHLY recommend avoiding Falken tires. They'll wear out in 30,000 miles and then they'll reject your treadwear warranty. Just happened to me with my AT3's, and the EXACT same thing happened to my buddy who bought his a month after mine.

Hmmm. I was going to get the AT4Ws this fall. Now you’ve got me rethinking it. Perhaps I’ll go with the updated Duratracs, the RT version.

Out of curiosity, was there a reason given why Falken wouldn’t cover the warranty?

Yes, some context around your driving conditions would be helpful. What mileage have you gotten with other brands?

Sorry I have been absent. I got the vinyl kit from Beyond Vinyl. It’s holding up really well with handwashing and Chemical Brothers matte vinyl spray.

The new RT Duratracs do not come in SL or C Load. Only XL Load for 265/70/17. They have Load D & E for 285s. I really want to try another tire besides the AT3s. My AT3s have been great but cursed. I got a flat the first week owning them because of a brass drill bit. Got another flat within a year from a massive screw. I won't buy them anymore since they're disappearing. I honestly don't know what tire to get on my 4runner or taco. This is what I'm leaning towards for new tires

Cooper makes a great tire. The Duratrac RT in 265/70/17 in XL is a 46# tire, not too heavy. Will that work or are you trying to stay as light as possible?

I tow about 4-6 times a year & my popup is 2200lb dry. It’s not a serious tow & I’ll start towing more with my taco instead of the 4Runner. I was hoping to keep the duratracs in standard load for my 4Runner. They just perform so well in Denver winters.

I’ll probably go SL on my 4Runner & step up to a C or XL on the taco. I honestly don’t think I need XL or C load for towing a popup 6 times a year. All my tires need to be severe/winter rated for the high country winter law.

I really don’t care about mpg in the taco but man 17-19 mpg in the 4Runner has been nice

I just put on some AT4s and Tire Rack shipped them with like 47-48psi. I just got done doing the chalk test and according to that, 44psi is the sweet spot up front, and 34-35 is good for the (unloaded) rear. I’m not sure how accurate or good this is. They feel really nice but from everything I’ve been reading, I haven’t seen anyone run 44psi up front. All I have is a tube bumper and rock sliders so I’m sure that’s not too much added weight.

I definitely lost a few MPGs. But I also got an OTT tune right after, so that may be affecting it as well. I seem to be averaging around 17 MPG now (calculated at the pump). With my 265's it was closer to 19 or 20.

discount tire is showing these as 33.1" in 285s vs 32.8" for the at3w. Is everyone who has upgrade to the at4 from the 3's noticing the tires a bit taller or is this just an error on discount tires specs?

Falken themselves list it that way on their site, so it seems to be accurate. Which is nice as they always ran a smidge smaller than other tires in the AT3
