I haven't been documenting the Haltech install very well but here's what I've got.
    IMG_20240729_215552.jpg
After the Wideband controller (WB1) and electronic boost control (EBC) solenoid arrived I wired them into the Boomslang harness

    Starting with the WB1 wiring
    IMG_20240729_171442.jpg
I soldered the WB1 into the appropriate ground and 12v switched wires (A10 and A26).
    IMG_20240730_110600.jpg
That Urban Boker knife came in handy for stripping the wires, it doesn't get used often but when I need it I love it.

I'm quite pleased with the solder joints here
    IMG_20240730_113345.jpg
Covered them up with 2 layers of heat shrink just because
    IMG_20240730_113700.jpg

    IMG_20240730_114129.jpg

I removed DTM-4 plug (on the right side where it's labeled ECU in white ) and repinned it directly into the Boomslang harnesses at B23 (CAN High) and B24 (CAN Low) so I "CAN" keep the dust cover on whenever its not connected to the laptop.
    IMG_20240803_004822.jpg
Crimping those connector pins is pretty enjoyable when you have the right tools
    IMG_20240803_005315.jpg
shortly after figuring out where it would need to be pinned the locking mechanism for the plug snapped off so I was extra happy to not need it anymore.

The EBC was easier to wire in thanks to Boomslang including a flying lead
    IMG_20240729_200350.jpg
That one was really straight forward, not even I could mess it up. I did trim off a bit of excess wire to keep it tidy
I used marine grade (not the jar head type) heat shrinking crimp connectors to tie it together
    IMG_20240729_231220.jpg
and covered it with more heat shrink to cover any exposed metal from crimping
    IMG_20240729_231738.jpg
Heat shrink is awesome stuff, it's very satisfying to watch. I twisted these up while they were still hot so they hold the shape when the glue dries.
I would like to put the EBC a little further away from the Turbo but I don't have any move vacuum line so I'll have to move it later but it's mounted in the same spot I had the manual boost controller
    IMG_20240803_005100.jpg
It's hard to tell from the picture but it sits on a bracket that raises it about half an inch off the fender.

I managed to get most of the Boomslang harness behind the glove box without sacrificing the all important AC duct but it did require trimming the back wall of the glove box and the trim piece inside the dash above the glove box. The plastic is easy to trim just score it with a knife and bend it along the cut like drywall
    IMG_20240730_163325.jpg
I won't be keeping gas station napkins in the glove box anymore. I'll have to come up with a more permanent mounting solution at some point but everything is working.

After getting everything installed @Speedytech7 was kind enough to send some wizards magic my way and got the base map where it needed to be and it started on the first try, it was a little rough at first but it was running. The second time started it everything smoothed out after about 3 seconds so the only reasonable thing to do was go get Tacos and call it a test drive. It does have some hesitation starting out and it even died once at a stop light. My wife said it felt like I was learning how to drive a stick and dieing at the front of a green light felt a little too accurate but ourv tacos were delicious and I was grinning from ear to ear.

The next morning I was pleased to find 650cc injectors from SNP at my door step, back under the hood I went.
    IMG_20240802_144638.jpg
I've been wanting to do injectors for maintenance reasons since I bought the truck so I'm extra glad to cross that off the list.

Out with the old, in with the new
    IMG_20240802_144624.jpg

    IMG_20240802_165818.jpg
After pulling the first injector out and seeing how dirty it was I thought it wise to get the shop vac in there to suck up any debris that would otherwise fall into the engine, I think it worked pretty good but it did try to eat my masking take a couple times.
    IMG_20240802_151613.jpg

    IMG_20240802_163910.jpg
With the new injectors in and their information plugged into NSP is was time for the test drive 2.0 this time Hawaiian food was on the menu but I'll admit I was tempted to go back for more tacos and Jamaica (the drink not the country).

Along the way we took a few detours, enjoying the rain and monitoring the temperatures. After a couple short Freeway sprints the coolant was reading at 172°f and the intake air was at about 88°f (the rain definitely helps keep that cool) we had also set a new personal best for boost pressure at 7.4 that one left the truck feeling thirsty so I may have to set the cap for boost pressure a little lower if I want to see an increase in fuel economy. The smiles per Gallon are definitely getting better though.

You're making me want some tacos now. :taco:

Great installation. I really like how you moved the can wires to the plug, so that you could put the cap back on. That has always irked me on mine, but I never have been back there to tidy it up.

On the 2nd test drive, how was the accelerating from a stop? Did you get it smoothed out yet?

    :hattip:
It was super easy to change out the plug once I had the correct pins even with it install in the truck.

It hasn't stalled again (yet) but it's still a bit jerky. The big brains over in the Haltech thread seem to think it'll go away whith map prediction turned on but it neads to do a little more long term fuel trim learning before it's switched on if i remembered that correctly.

It idles rough but drives smoothly. I'm about to go see what I can do about the fuel leak. As soon as I noticed the leak I pulled back into the garage and shut it off.
    IMG_20240803_111801.jpg
it looked like fuel was coming from between the fuel rail and the injector closest to the power steering pump. I wouldn't be surprised if the O ring didn't seat properly.

I'm about to go check it out now. Hopefully I wont need to take the plenum off again since it's one of the easier injectors to reach

Went up Hwy 14 and back then went down I-15 and back. The coolant peaked at 193°f

I touched 7.4psi a couple more times and about 1/3 of my gas tank disappeared.

I've been racking up the miles (and gas bill) the last few days putting it through the paces and testing how it runs in different condition. There's still a lot I need to learn in NSP and a bit the ECU needs to learn about the truck but it's getting better every day.

The truck idles crazy smooth when it's in drive but not great in park.

There's been a few times I thought it died but when I look down it's just holding perfectly still at 500rps

In park it idles around 1000rpm with a little shake but if I add fuel to that specific spot in the fuel table it'll smooth right out. from an efficiency stand point i don't really want it drinking up all the fuel in park

I got tired of all the recent pavement and took a buddy to some areas he wouldn't otherwise be able go. Even if he couldn't get out and spot me he did great from the passenger seat

Loose sand on steep rocks and these tires just go even without airing down. It's nothing compared to what the buggies do out here during WE Rock every year but we still had fun

Went down to St George for the pre trip inspection at Big O Tires today. They threw in an alignment and balanced my tires all for free

@Jon64l the altitude definitely makes a difference on the wastegate. Without changing the boost controller while I was getting on the Freeway to come home it hit 3.7psi at the lower St George altitude

Didn't do much driving but still spent almost a full day tinkering away getting things buttoned up for a trip.

The windshield washer reservoir has slowly been falling apart and about 2 days ago the filler neck finally snapped clean off. Luckily the replacement arrived sooner than expected. The design is a little different and I like the way the new one is two pieces so the filler neck can flex a little since my over sized air filter was pushing slightly on the old one and probably contributed to its dimise
    IMG_20240809_135018.jpg
I never realized how big the reservoir is, put a full gallon in and it's not even showing in the filler neck.

When I bought the All-Pro bumper I took advantage of free shipping and threw in the skids for the engine and transmission, I also got the Low Range Off-road gas tank skid and E locker guard but I never install the transmission skid or the gas tank skid and the engine skid hasn't been on since the Doug Thorley headers were install but today I put it all under the truck.

Before I put the engine skid back on I made some reinforcements to the factory skid mount because they are terribly flimsy and bent up.

    IMG_20240809_172355.jpg
It took a little convincing and grinding to get the 1/2" c channel to fit good and flat but it turned out well. I don't think the skid was designed to work with a dif drop so that little extra drop the C channel provided helped it to fit better and even with my poor welding skills it's got to be better than it was
    IMG_20240809_163015.jpg

The group I'm traveling with recommend a 33" minimum tire size a couple weeks ago but I think with a bit of experience and all these skids my half worn 32's will do just fine.

    IMG_20240809_194950.jpg

I don't really have an excuse for not having the skids painted since they've just been sitting in a pile in the corner of the garage for years now but at least the engine skid has primer on it.

Theres a full on camera crew for the entire trip too so I took a propane torch to the fender flares, they should look half decent for a few days at least

I have the all pro skid. I do like it but it needs a bump out for diff drop clearance. Smacked and broke a diff because it sat right on it. I heated mine with a oxy torch and beat it out a bit. This spot usually catches some scrapes first compared to the rest of the plate. Also you might consider flipping your front mount bolts. As they drag on rocks the nuts will be difficult to remove.
