Made it up to sante fe, super cool place. Don't have enough time to check it out other than grabbing a beer, but certainly have to come back. Feels like a true old world city.

daymn - didn't realize it was actually closer than I am -- I'm two hours further north than ABQ but takes forever to get places. More than 4.5 (by a little) for me to Silverton.

Tell me the things worth coming down for. lol. I don't get down to ABQ enough/much.

Things worth seeing in ABQ? Shit I have less than 48 hours under my belt so far I like the SW atmosphere. That's all I can say for now. But access to Moab, telluride, Flagstaff, white sands, are all under 6 hours. The Gulf of Mexico is like 12 hrs, so pretty good location as far as that goes. Those will be places to work through with time.

 

Nah ABQ is alright - I think I hate it because of the drive - I drove 3-4 times a week for classes for almost 2 years to get my masters. It was a DRAG. I simply hate the drive. I got myself to got to the MAC to play some drop in hockey last Sunday because the rink in SF has been dead (and our up here is an ODR). Like I said, going back for more hockey in a couple weeks and hitting up some trails while I'm there. (Plus the pre-tourney party is at Top Golf -- I do not play golf, but should be fun).

Balloon Fiesta is a biggie for ABQ but that's not till October. If you're here, prepare for MAD traffic and loonies. lol.

Isotopes game if you like baseball at all - Savannah Bananas were just here - so just missed them - but the other games are cheap-ish and can be fun (food and drinks are still normal outrageous pricing). Good random nights of cheap tickets and free jerseys/bobbleheads/whatever.

The Sandias -- Tramway ride - or I'd say take a hike if you had more time.

Otherwise -- food -- food -- food. Get your fill of food. lol. Green Chile -- better than anything in CO by far (no matter what they all say, I'm from there, it's better, I said it). lol.

For the most part I think of ABQ as the central spot to be able to get to everything else - I'm kinda curious to hear more about what you find/learn living there. Give me a reason to drive. lol.

 

Damn I got lucky as hell today, saw an opened pocket knife in the road and pulled over to move it so someone didn't get a flat and it's a freaking Spiderco Military blade. I've been carrying a little Spiderco ladybug knife in my pocket for a couple years. These blades are no joke.


Looks like it got ran over at least once but these G-10 scales are tough

The pocket clip can be mounted in 4 different spots so its good for left/right hand and can be tip up or tip down.

 

I picked up some TRD springs from a 5th gen 4runner. I believe they originally came with Fox shocks. 12.5x3.0", and 550lbs according to the internet. After a test drive around town, they seem like a much better match for my truck/valving than the 500lbs springs I had previously.

The 12.5" length is short enough that I can get them on/off the shocks simply by backing off the preload collar--no need for a spring compressor.

@Speedytech7 I think you have the same shocks as me (Camburg branded Sway-a-Way). As far as I know, they originally came with 13" springs. Do you see any issue with running 12.5" springs as long as the preload collars are tight against the spring at full droop? I haven't made any attempt to flex things out yet but it looks like the shock will still run out of travel before the spring does.

 

Should be fine, only a half inch shorter, as long as you can reach a ride at you like still

 

I'd prefer to stay low anyway. I'm at 15 turns of preload right now and the front is at a comfortable height--just a slight downward angle to the CVs--but I'll probably raise it a bit more to bring the front closer to level with the rear. We'll see how it looks in daylight tomorrow.

 

How many straps/tie downs is too many?
(plus the winch up front)
