I have a 2013 pre runner I use for pest control. My stock rear leafs are pretty worn. I want a small lift to help with the sag, and something more heavy duty. I was looking at old man emu heavy duty springs or, general spring. GS springs are a lot cheaper, has any one used them? I'm not off roading, just want them to support the weight better. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I put a set of these on mine, helped with the sag from the camper shell. (about 300 lbs). super easy install. I think mine are the 550s.

But if you have a large liquid tank on your rig you probably will need the heavier leafs. I don't have experience with GS spring or Emu but many here do and will likely chime in.

I recommend deaver or ICON RXT. The Icon is nice because you can alter them to be stage 1-3 to fit your needs.

I personally owned old man emu medium leafs for 2 years, and had no issues. But TONS of people on this site have had issues, and overall their leaf springs are not recommended.

Agree, I installed these on my Tacoma about a month ago. Great springs, they will absolutely give you the lift you are looking for and will also make your truck ride very smooth with any gear in the back.

these are general HDs. Gave me 2” on 2013 AC 4x4. I can’t comment on longevity or if they end up sagging after x amount of time, but they are rugged springs. I don’t have a constant load in the back and ride is firm but not harsh by any means. It matches the firmness of the 5100/884s up front.
I bought them for running loads of firewood out of the trails around my house, they work very well and like you said the cost is quite affordable compared to other options. I think you’d have to do something up front suspension wise though cause you’d be driving around like a cat in heat with your bed riding high

I'm running the general springs also, no complaints and in my case I couldn't justify upwards of a grand on rear springs on a 18YO tacoma, lots of other places that $ would be better used on the truck. For me it was the right decision, the HD Generals have worked well both loaded and unloaded and a much nicer ride than what I took off (recall leafs). Like Dbelle, I can't comment on longevity but so far I like their load carrying capability, the max I carry is the truck's topper with camping gear and sometimes a 250# dirtbike hanging out on a hitch rack. Between the HD springs and OME 884 coils the lift was enough that it needed the ECGS bushing and I did a carrier bearing drop and of course an alignment. Drives nicer now loaded or unloaded then it has in many years. The other thing I like about these springs is the spring pads look very much like the OEM pads, I'm expecting them to stay quiet like the oems.

I also did the ECGS bearing. But not differential drop. Thumbs up on the two tone cap, I’ve been keeping an eye out for one myself. Were you getting vibes?
Also here’s a pic I found with the bed full of green sugar maple, heavy.

I did the rear springs 2 weeks before the front coils, as soon as I put the front coils on I was getting the vibes, I kind of expected it after reading other posts on here. It started off at about 2"~2.5" but it's since settled to just below 2" with a nice ride.

I'd like to get the cap done in black rhino liner eventually.
